I would definately not recommend the Wrangler for a daily driver or family vehicle. Too many other good options.

Makes me hesitate a BM now after your experience. I was hoping the X3 would be easier on the tire costs, but the leak at 120K is not something that I want to expect. 24k for tires is not good. :pout:

From what everyone's recommending. I should deal with the X3 if that was the only choice. But, I'll coax her into looking at other vehicles. Toyotas will never fail me for sure. Venza will be on the list.

Now if we just ignore her list, any other vehicles that you guys can recommend that would be fitting for a wife to drive, and one child in the family?

May I ask why you ruled out the GLK? I think they are a far better value than the X3 and they look much better. That being said though, I am still scared of German vehicles. My wife has a BMW 3 series, and I am too scared to touch that thing.

Not one person that I've met, even that I've talked to on random occasions have they said their Benz wasn't a money pit. But, BMW's do have better reliability than most other German brands.

Carrying a new baby around town in a Jeep just seems silly to me. Safety, ride quality, and too many other strikes against it.

More discussion with the incubator is needed to expand options beyond the X3. Something with good safety, ride quality and road manners should be top, with reliability and serviceability next. Then comes "looks" and color.

Hard to argue with pregnant ladies, though.

Actually, I do like it. I sat in it and it felt great. Haven't driven it yet. I'm open to it, tell me more about it in terms of reliability? I don't know much Jeeps. Thanks.

Excellent point. But, I would "think" the X3 would have good safety? Road quality seems great for an SUV, drives just like how a BMW should. I'd definitely be open to any opinions on vehicles that you'd recommend.

For that money you should get her into a nice FJ. Reliable, cool looking, practical.,

    Before you buy anything :
bring the rear facing baby car seat with you to be sure it fits good and you can loan and unload the baby without too much drama

The baby will be in at least two different car seats in the life of the vehicle. Loading / unloading can be a real hassle. Also consider if you can reach the baby from the front or if you have stop, park and go back.

    Amen to that.

That just opened up a new world of thinking for me. I understood everything up until you said i have to "stop, park, and go back." Go back for what? :sorry:

    Wow, just wow.

It's HER car, let HER get what SHE wants.

Then let her take it to the dealer when it needs service, it's going to have scheduled maintenance included and at least 3 years 36 month warranty.

Try this, repeat after me: yes dear that's a great choice I'm glad it makes you happy.
You deserve it, you being happy makes my day.

    Best of luck.

Seconded on that. My mom has a GLK that was picked up in Germany and it is a truly great car. No problems with it at all, very comfortable ride, fun engine, and isn't that difficult to service your self. We do all service ourselves. The oil for the most part was pretty easy to do. You do have to remove the plastic belly skid/cover thing but other that that its easy. It does however require a ton of oil. It takes 2x as much as our 4.0 Tacoma.

Also the new interior redesign looks great.

Merc's do have a rep as a money pit, my dad has a slightly older GL and that thing is a nightmare, but the GLK is a new generation of vehicle for Mercedes and so far has given us no problems at all in the 2.5 years we have had it.

There is no comparison of a an X5 and a Rubicon...

    They are two different cars.

Our BMW is amazing. No issues. Amazing warranty. Nothing to worry about if something goes wrong. They hug the road. Handle better...
