Will not help with someone closing the door while you drive, but ... (not trying to offend, just saying)

When I moved into a rental house after my owned house, I was a little distracted once backing out. Caught the truck lid of a Corolla (hey, everyone potentially has one of those "distracted" moments each day).

To avoid a repeat I ran a string from the door-opener carrier (that moving bit with the "escape" pull). Ran it to the house-adjacent wall through small closed-eye hooks and hung a door-lock-hole-bit (or something heavy-enough like that). I have it now in my apartment and if I had and rattle-can red (I am too cheap to buy it but I did but RCI skid plates!) I would paint the string as an indicator. The way it would run through the closed-eye hooks prevents any kind of tape indicating at "eye level" when the door is fully open.

I agree!! I had a 2010 Evo GSR that was hit with a flying piece of retreaded rubber on the freeway. It did a lot of damage to the hood which was aluminum. I was amazed how he got to some spots that were very hard to get to due to the design of the hood itself. OP, good luck with the repair.

    This seems appropriate.

FWIW, my wife backed my Tacoma completely over a mailbox and didn't even realize she did it. Then she backed it into a Dodge Hellcat. Backed our Wrangler into a utility pole, and our Chevy van into a tree.

We've been married almost 40 years so I got over it.

You have to drop the back part of the headliner to remove the third brake light since it bolts in from the inside. Look on YouTube for third brake light replacement videos and it will take you step by step on how to drop the back of the headliner. It’s just removing a couple panels inside. Takes like 20 minutes with a flat head screwdriver.

To access that area you do not need to remove the entire headliner. Personally I would drop the headliner and try to pop that out myself.

Put your back on the back seat and put your feet up and push....... Maybe put some Goop under the antenna.

The lower portion of the antenna seems to be attached firmly, so I don’t think so .. but will see when I’m able to get it off

the question he needs to be asking himself is "is this really worth not getting anything for my birthday?"

Happy ending folks. PDR shop in Houston knocked it out of the park. Totally fixed the dents, installed dynamat and dynaliner while the headliner was down, and no major issues with the headliner being dropped and put back up. No bondo, no respray, none of that. Good as new.

Shout out to Lafayette at American Dent Specialists for saving my truck.

All's well that ends well! Looks great!! Do you notice any change in noise level now that you have the Dynamat?

Thanks man. Such a relief to find amazing techs out there who know their shit.

Yes. It is quieter. But I’ve gotta do my doors and back seat now. (I also did the hood over the weekend.). The biggest change is when it rains you hear nothing except the rain hitting the windshield. No more tin roof plink plank. Also, I just don’t hear anything above my head anymore. Pretty cool.

Im aware. I’m not very handy but I do what I can. And I’m also in a state of chronic time starvation with my job. Since I am unable to do pro level PDR, and have no time, this particular task needed to be outsourced. But I am slowly getting into doing stuff on my own and when I have the time and keep at it, it’s highly rewarding and the results are always superior.
