What blows my mind is the simple fact of relativity. You say you're gunna put a 6" lift on a truck and people throw a fit about getting in the damn thin but you don't here anyone batting an eye about the difference in height going from a sedan to full size truck.

I never ask for my girlfriends opinion when it comes to my truck, or almost anything else for that matter, She's the one who says I don't need firearms, ammunition, four bikes. have too many fishing rods, too much backpacking/ camping gear and that I have too many tools.

Good idea. It’s best to keep your decision making process to yourself. She’ll actually enjoy trying to figure out what you are thinking and planning. Women like men who are on their own mission.

Luckily I'm not married yet so my girlfriend always says "go spend your money while it's yours because once we get married it's OURS". Hahaha females...

    It's complicated.
What she didn't say is that her money will remain hers!

    She’s giving you fair warning.

It my opinion, you should always have a separate account even when married, as well as a joint account you both pay into for monthly expenses, at some agreed-upon amount. Never ever share your primary account with your wife or partner. Even if she is a responsible thrifty person. The decisions you make about spending whatever money is left over, after the cost of living, should be yours alone. I think this results in happier partnerships. For instance, if you work overtime, it’s to your benefit, which you may chose to include her in, and feel good about spoiling her. If you just put everything into a joint “general revenue” account, you miss the chance to treat her and yourself to some of the nice extras in life.

This lesson was hard-learned by yours truly. Separate accounts = happiness.

I was fresh out of the Navy and my wife was second year of college when we meet. One thing another, we didn't have an account to piss in. Had to scrape up what we could just to get by. Anyhow, yep, nowadays we have separate accounts. We don't have to worry what the other spent where. We still enjoy things like the "Slider Purchase" just to remind us where we came from...I think.
