The wife got divorced in 2007 and her ex kept the boat she got the car she sold the car , he kept boat but is behind on payments going on 2 months. What can we do to help protect us and our credit.

He won't sell it or refinance it into his own name.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Sue him to do so. Best bet though is to consult a lawyer. Is there a JAG office on base you can use?

I'd call her divorce lawyer first to get his advice. If you're concerned about shelling out more money to the shark ... or er lawyer ... then call the loan company that has the lien on the boat, and be prepared to provide them with a copy of the divorce settlement proving he got the boat in the settlement. You definitely have a case, especially if as part of the agreement, he was required to refi in his own name.

It sounds like it was settled in a court. I never heard of someone being able to keep property and leaving it in both names. Usually one buys the other out, or its sold off to pay the note.

as others mentioned, see a lawyer, make a payment protect your credit and sue for the cash.

I agree with Tacoma TRD. There cannot be joint property. Either they take over and put it in their name or it is sold and the profit, if any, is split. Or one agrees to buy the other one out.
Her divorce lawyer should be able to answer that question.

Help your wife sell it on Craigslist. Pay the bank off and keep the balance as an asshole tax.

The loan was in both names, bc the boat is worth less than "He" owes he won't refinance into his name, right now he is a month behind on payments and we are sick of gettin the letters in the mail, we call and text him tell him to pay the shit or sell it and he tells us the check is in the mail. Her sister and Brotherin law are layers and apparently bc the deformed settle mention said she rook truck he took boat they don't have to redo the loan.

It just pisses me off this guy tries to keep some "baller" status with his POS Ford and the boat after cheatin on my wife,( which I guss is good bc then she wouldnt be my wife now) he needs to pays the shit or sell it

You best bet is to take over the payments on the boat as well as reposes the boat. If not it will go to collections and will be on your spouse's credit history
