so here is the dilemma, I have to buildings on my property that need wifi that are roughly 100 or so feet apart. My router has to stay where it is in the main house. How do I get the signal to the other building the cheapest way possible?

Cheapest and most reliable would probably be burying a cable. If you can get some reception in the second building from the main router, you could set up a wireless repeater, but you would have to have some signal reaching the second building already.

If your router has an antenna try cutting up a soda can or beer can and putting it around it, it will expand the range. You can YouTube how to do that, also putting the router in the highest place possible will give max range

Running a cable between the two buildings would be the best solution. If you are wanting wi-fi in the second building, you will need to add a 2nd router to act as a bridge. If you just want one hard drop then your good to go, if you want a couple of hard drops than a cheap switch will do the trick.

If you have any signal in the second building then adding a second router to it and setting it up as a bridge might work.

Like many have said cheapest way would be a cable. If you want wifi in the second building use a cable and then use another wifi router.

Otherwise you can purchase a nice router, roughly $200 and it should reach 100ft easily unless this is some kind of brick/concrete building.

I'd use cable. It'll be faster and more reliable. Last time I was at Lowes, I had seen a 1000ft roll of CAT 5E for less than $100.

Before digging and running a cable I tried setting up a second router that I got for free connected to the first router via an ethernet cable (again got it free). The wifi now catches where it needs to in the second building pretty well, the only problem is my internet drops quite often now. I tried setting the IP adress of that router to static but it didnt seem to do anything. Any help there?
