Researchers found by age 5, children who spent two hours or more per day, looking at screens, were 7.7 times more likely to meet criteria for a diagnosis of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD, than children who watched screens for 30 minutes or less each day.

 

You can rent mobile hotspots for a couple bucks a day. Works well for this sort of thing. They just mail it to you and you mail it back whenever your done. Just google for it.

I get the screen time thing, but I thinf if the kid stays focused on some limited educational content it is not as bad.

That said, the kid loves to go for a drive and look out the windows. But for a long trip that we will break into four or five our road time legs, the iPad may come ion handy. I also just ordered Toniebox, which is safer and interactive without a screen.
