I’ve already posted this in “what have you done to your 3rd gen today”. However, I haven’t seen much about these on 3rd gens in the forums. So I’m making a thread to make it easier to find if someone is interested.

Installed my PreRunner TireGate yesterday! Love how it turned out, I painted the part that holds the tire, the tire hold down, and the plates on the sides. Used the dupli color exact match and I would say it’s very close. All in all very happy with how it looks. However, the instructions were awful. There were a few nuts missing, there were parts that were used that were not part of the instructions, and also some left over hardware and an extra part that I have no idea where goes and isn’t mentioned in the instructions:notsure:. Aside from those issues, and the fact that it is wayyyyy overpriced, it seems very well built and very sturdy.

Nice! I was really contemplating it, but man it’s just way too pricy.

Do you mean you don’t think it would match your truck? It comes just powder coated black, and the emblems come silver. Everything that’s red I painted myself.

I have their Hitchgate Offset and love it. Thought about getting what you got but was talked out of it by people telling me since I didn't have a cap etc the bed would fill up with dirt etc. Not sure if it is true but yours looks sweet. If anyone needs a Wilco Discount Code for 10% off ( I know it's not much ) use UNCHAINED 5150 Plus I have a Softopper and Rack etc so the Offset was just more useful to me.

I went back and forth as well, looked at the hitch ones a lot. Both look pretty sweet IMO

Looks like the hitch option blocks the backup camera

So does the replace the tailgate option.
I just moved mine to the drivers side license plate bolt for now. I can’t decide where I want it for good though.

    Nice.
I have one for my 1st gen. Looks like the design has changed a little bit but you aren't kidding about the instructions. They were a nitemare.

Back about 9 years ago when I purchased mine, I actually called wilco because I was having a hard time putting mine together. Must have been my lucky day because the guy who designed the ones for the 1st gen answered the phone.
He went and got the drawings and stayed on the phone while I put it together.
    True story.

That’s awesome! I guess they stopped making these for 1st gens? I had someone asking earlier about an option for them

@ZBDat3gev true lol. Any impact to mpg? I recall a myth busters episode about stock tailgate vs no tailgate vs strap tailgate. Curious how the gate replacement changes airflow
