After years of camping out of my bed using a Softopper I’m Looking to get a RTT. Love the simplicity of the Softopper, but tired of clearing out the bed before use. It gets especially annoying on longer trips with a lot of gear. I still want to keep all my gear safe from dust and weather so a topper is a must. I don’t want spend 3x as much for a hard top, especially considering I will be taking off the RTT and topper occasionally.

My options are buying a Softopper compatible bed rack or the wild top truck topper. The wild top is relatively new, made in Australia. It’s the only rack/topper combo on the market. It’s also cheaper than almost every Softopper compatible rack I am seeing.

I like the Softopper for how easy it is to put down to use the bed, that will be the biggest compromise. However removing the wild top seems far easier than removing a soft topper plus compatible bed rack. I carry a dirtbike 10-15 times per year and need it to be relatively easy to take on and off. A bed rack would give me more versatility to mount stuff and maybe looks cooler.

Anybody with either a wild top or Softopper rack setup have thoughts or considerations?

I would keep the Softopper for winter use most likely. I like it, but haven’t been blown away by the quality, but fine for the price point.

I have a softtop with Uptop overland rack.
I gave up riding years ago. The fact that you still ride, that new combo is very intriguing. I can’t imagine unbolting my rack every time I need full clearance (still wouldn’t be hard but its still a 2 person job)

If you don’t need/plan on adding additional accessories on the side on the “molle” panels, I’d go for it.
