nope. Type 1 and 3, yes. Type 6 or your typical f250/350/550 do not and they drive them just feet from the fire.

N95 should be a thing in LA with its pollution even if there’s no fire

correct. Fire engines such as the type 1 & 3 intake designed prevents the suction of ambers. As for type 6 or the Ford super duty, there’s no difference between civilians or wild land apparatus or BC/DC vehicles.

If you’re worry about the Toyota intake, don’t drive it.

I will say this... It does make one of those Centrifugal (Centripital?) Snorkel Caps look like a damn good idea.
    https://snorkelupgrade.com/pages/how-it-works

Basically turns your intake into a mini-Dyson Vacuum. Slings dirt to the outside so clean(er) air makes its way to the filter. Ash is probably fine enough that it doesn't all get slung out. Maybe 50% at best? But yeah, I'd take that 50%. Even 25%.

Or as mentioned, a battalion chief or division chief f250 that are use on the fire line as a safety officer or strike team leader. No modification is made to the take system and they drive those vehicles feet from active fire

so what did other type 6 manufacturer done to the intake system? I service those engines before and the intake is factory. Filter is stock and can be purchased from your local auto parts store, lol. The tube itself is factory.

I’m interested to see what NM has done to their fire fleet requirement. Got pictures of the modification made?

Yes they use a Special Vehicle, But they go to a Command Post and stay there, They dont go Bouncing around from Place to Place.

I guess my question is, what kind of vehicle?

PIO or some of the incident management team have to bounce around from division to division, they can’t remain at the ICP for the duration of the incident. Like I said, I’m interested to see what modification is made for the vehicles to be at or near the fire line in NM

One of may buddies was a crew chief for Cal-Fire out of Truckee California for 30 years. Before that he was with the Mountain Rescue Team in the Sierras.
    He's got some stories!

If it that large of an Incident it would either be on USFS or New Mexico State Forestry Land. Either one of them would have the Incident and they would request a Team. Type 1 or Type 2? Type 3 Team is handled Locally, Yes a Type 3 stays at the Command Post and gets their information from the Crews on the Ground.
