    Hey everyone!

Long time lurker, first time poster. Hopefully picking up my truck sometime this month, and wanted to ask a quick question that didnt come up in search. Was curious to know if anyone has had any experience with both the wildpeaks and the ridge grapplers on your rides. I've had their respective tires on my previous vehicles and both performed excellent especially during the Florida monsoon season. Ive read nothing but positives for both, but just trying to decide which ones to go with and was hoping to get input from those who have had both, pros and cons. I do plan to take it off road, and of course being from Florida wont be faced with any crazy terrain but always good to have and not need than need and not have.

    Thanks!

    Mike

I run the Wildpeaks, no issues on or offroad. Quiet on the road (more noise than stock, but not by much).
Sand, good float rather well ~35psi, I am sure you can go lower, but I haven't had a need to.
Rocks, grip well. No chunks missing, but then I throttle pretty smooth so. There are tons of sharp rocks in my region.
Wet, road only, grip well no issues@highway speeds.
Mud, haven't done this yet. I live in the desert so.....

Ride isn't harsh (P-load), however E-load may be a bit stiffer. Next set will be E-load.
    Pretty light compared to others.

Appreciate the input! For me I think how they handle in the rain is a big factor for me since the roads here in Orlando are terrible and can downpour in the blink if an eye.

Ridgegrapplers are not the best in a downpour with an empty load. Rear end slides a little bit... Trailgrapplers may be better. Highway Ridgegrapplers noisy compared to stock but pickup truck so turn up radio.

I have had Ridgegrapplers for while and I love them! Nothing but positive things to say about them. I got 35x12.5 E load. I can air down to 15 PSI when I go in sand or rock and they still look like they haven't been deflated that low. Matter of fact, I have dropped them down to 10 PSI and they still looked good and my truck isn't the lightest either with full steel skids, slider, rear diff cover, and gas tank skid. What I love the most is their grip on freeway and these suckers are quite. I get more noise from my Prinsu rack than tires. I will definitely go with them again if I had to do it again. Even some of my Jeep friends will be running them after they sat in my truck lol

Interesting... I have never experienced this on my tacoma, my f150, and f250 all with ridge grapplers..

I love my ridge grapplers. They ride almost just as quiet as the stock tires. They have great traction in the wet and I've taken them in sand, dirt and loose rocks. I haven't done any mudding as it's not my thing, but with the big lugs I think they'd do just great. Plus I got them in C-range so they're a lot softer over small bumps, especially aired down.

Never had an issue in the rain. How is a mud tire going to do better than AT(hybrid) tire in the wet?

I would say Ridge Grapplers. If budget is a concern you should obviously go with the budget company, Falken. Falken is just known to be a cheaper tire company overall and kind of inferior. My friend managed a discount tire several years ago and hated Falken as a brand. Not sure if anything has changed though.

That's great and all but as someone who actually has Falkens I can honestly say your friends second cousins sisters roommates opinion, and yours, is suspect. Best part of the Falkens is the cost followed by how they perform ( hint: they are fantastic in the rain, easily my favorite aspect of them).

OP can read the Falkens threads that are numerous here on TW. I have no experience with the grapplers, so unlike most on TW, I will refrain from commenting on it. I have almost 20k on my wild peaks and they have been great for an inferior budget tire.

Yeah you can get 5 Falkens for the price of 4 Ridge Grapplers. Imo you get what you pay for. Sorry you can't handle an opinion and the truth about your budget tire? Dangle on.

Check out the weight difference between the two tires and that may help you make a decision. The Nittos are good tires but they are very heavy. Also, the wet performance of the Falken is hard to beat. I researched tires for literally a year. I was sick of reading up on tires. I bought the Falkens and am glad I did.

So how are they inferior talking strictly truck tires? I don’t think there are many cons to the tire as long as your not going for the sole purpose of mudding as its an A/T, people are wheeling in them and doing just fine...Just this past year I’ve owned the wildpeaks, st maxx, and now Toyo R/T.

Well I guess the biggest inferior part of the wildpeaks is that they’re no where near. As aggressive looking as The nittos. Let’s face it most people buy tires based off looks. Nitto RG were Specifially made for hi functionality and offer an aggressive sidewall and tread pattern.

To the OP all you need is some wildpeaks, up to you if you want to spend the extra coin for some nittos.

I have the Falkens and they have been great to me. Only reason I am going with the RGs is they have the specs/size I am looking for and Wildpeak doesnt. If they did, no doubt Id be a repeat customer. Holefully the RG’s treat me just as well.

Nitto tires have always left more to be desired, IME.

Also, the looks of the Falkens are really deceiving on photos. They are much more aggressive in person.

X2 on the Falkens being much more aggressive in person. They are more of a hybrid looking AT in person. I was surprised because the pics didn’t do them justice.

My Falkens have performed better than I could of asked for. In sand, snow, dirt, rocks, and light crawling. I've ran mine pretty hard mobbing down dirt road pretty quick and rallying my truck on pavement and they've held up perfectly so far. I got all 4 of mine for $500...you really cant beat the price and they outperform a lot higher costing tires, plus they look awesome in person.
