Looking for the best tire for my DD. I want something that has a good tread life and will do good offroad and in the snow.

I have no experience with the General Grabber but have the Wildpeaks on my truck, excellent tires especially considering the cost.

Ridge grapplers. Already tested them in the snow on the road where people were literally getting stuck and sliding off the sides. Went and picked up my 80 gallon 175psi 7.5hp compressor in a literal snow storm with inches of snow ON the road and those tires are the only reason I was one of but a handful of vehicles on the road capable of moving.

But there’s a unique caveat you should be aware of since you mentioned both tread life AND snow performance.

The P or Standard rating Wildpeaks have a better/softer silica compound than the LT rated Wildpeaks. This means better snow performance but worse tire wear.

The LT rated Wildpeaks have deeper treads and slightly stiffer rubber. This means much better tread life and arguably marginally better in the dirt, but a hair worse in the cold stuff.

Most tires are more or less the same P rated to LT.

These are each uniquely designed. Deepest in class tread depth OR better silica compound for snow/ice. It’s a trade off between you’re two priorities but I would recommend the P/Standard rated tires over the LTs.

I really enjoyed my wild peaks when I had my ranger. Will likely get them when the Taco needs new treads

I don’t have either but $115 for Wildpeaks size 265/70/17 on Amazon ain’t bad.

Wildpeaks for me. Pretty cheap and work great. Falken and Generals are probably pretty even on and off road. Just pick what's cheaper.

I have Nitto Ridge Grapplers now but I had the Wildpeaks before and they were great in the snow.

I'll go more aggressive with the next set of tires.

Wildpeaks get my vote. I have 36000 miles on mine and they still have a shitload of tread.

would really really really consider buying a set of Altimaxx Arctics for snow-season. Nothing will 'go well' in snow unless it's designed for snow. I siped a set of Mud-Terrains one year around detroit and things were passable but my wife's dedicated snows on her truck ran circles around me in mine.

words like 'better' are misleading as heck and things like 'long treadlife' may not be good things to decide which tire to use. May want to think of it this way: A 50k-mile tire will do you no good if your truck is on its roof at 25k miles.

    Traction, Traction, Traction.

You want traction for off-road? Plenty of options. AND snow? While a lot of Rally guys use chunky winter tires as cost-friendly options, there is nothing like having the right tool for the job thatswhatshesaid.

Suggest you consider figuring out the terrain you plan on running off-road. Buy those tires. Then mount another set of dedicated winter/snows for when you have to get to work.

I have to say the Wildpeaks are better in the rain. Granted, the Wildpeaks were SL rated so softer compound.
With the RG I’m able to break loose in the rain easier than the Wildpeaks. But they both handle the PNW rain pretty well.
