Since I didn't know what tint % was on my truck I went to a local window tint installer the other day and found out the tint I've got is 35%

We also talked about having a ceramic coating tint done to the front windshield to cut done on the interior temps and glare I see in the High Desert

20 is the way to go.
Never had any issue at night and anything lighter and I think you will regret it.

I have had cars with different levels of tint. I have had 5% sides and back, 35% sides and back and 20% sides and back, I would go with the darkest that is legal for your area (if you want to stay legal)

Here in TX, I would like to go darker but the law says 25% is the darkest you can go on windows to the immediate left and right of the driver. I would prefer at least 20% if I didn't have to worry about the cops hassling me.

Ya i think im going 20 front windows and 35 over factory rear. Currently have 5% on xtracab windows. Im thinking the same thing i dont wanna get 35 and be bummed that its too light. Im having it done tomorrow so ill try and post a couple pics of how it comes out.

Not sure how dark you factory rears are, but on mine the 20% matches.
I think if you go 35% on top of factory rears, you will reduce nighttime visibility.
    Just my $0.02......

I’ve had four 1st gens with all different amounts. 5%, 15%, 30%, and one with none. I felt like the 15% was good for the front windows. The 5% required me to roll the windows down some at night time but it wasn’t too terrible. I feel like anything more that 15% isn’t enough. I do live in NM though where we get lots of sunshine the vast majority of the year. And summer time is especially rough with little or no tint.

Also, the one that had 15% on the fronts, I also had the 15% put over the factory tint as well. This made it close to five in the back area. I didn’t have any issues with this. I liked that I could put things back there when parked and i didn’t worry about passerby’s being able to see what’s inside and think about breaking in

Ya i ended up going with 20% driver and passenger front windows and 20 over the rear factory which put it around 10% . 5% was left on xtracab from before. Ill post some pics up when i can

Finally got around to taking a couple pics of the truck with tint done. Went 20% on rear and side windows. 5% left on xtracab from previous owner.
    Before
    IMG_4078.jpg
    After
IMG_4184.jpgIMG_4187.jpg IMG_4189.jpgLooks a bit darker since it was about to rain but with the sun on it during the day its not too hard to see in. I think 20 is perfect for night driving it isnt too dark. Rolling down windows for parking isnt that necessary either. I miss having 5% during the day but this is more practical.

Good choice...that thing looks awesome. I went 20% over factory back windows and rear side windows and 20% on the front side windows and I have no issues at night nor do I have issues with the Po-Po. It's also the perfect darkness for keeping glancing eyes from easily seeing in.

Thanks Ya im definitely glad i didnt go 35%. That would have been a waste since you can still see in a bit with 20 even at night.

Yep. When I went to the tint shop here locally they told me 35% was Oregons legal limit and I would have to sign a waiver to go any less. Needless to say I signed the sh!t out that thing

How well does 20% Front match with the factory rear. I'm leaning towards this option, but unsure about what I want to do for the windows on the extracab section.

I had a '02 extra cab that I had my tint guy match the factory tint. He said it was between 30-35%. I always wished it was darker.

So, maybe I should go with 20% Front and something lighter in the Rear like 35%?
