I have a 2013 Toyota Tacoma access cab prerunner and I have 265/79/16 tires. I’m looking to upgrade to a 275/70/17 with a 17x9 rim 4.5 backspacing and -12 offset. I also have a 3 in lift in the front and 2 in block in the rear will I be able to clear this tire size without hitting the cab mount or my upper control arms. Would appreciate pics if you have them of the clearance inside the wheel well.

A lot of people run 275's on their trucks on TW, both 3rd and 2nd gen with a small lift in the front. Your upper control arm may rub a little depending on what tire you choose, but the cab mount will be fine.

Well isn’t that what the 4.5 backspacing is for

275 70 17 is kind of waste in my opinion. You’re not really saving much. Just go with 285 70 17. You have a ton more choices of tires as well.

I’ve run 17x9 -12 with 295 70 17 dynapro rf10 tires and I wasn’t even close to hitting my upper control arms. I did have to do the cab mount chop though.

How is the gearing and fuel mileage?

I may be getting the same size 275/70/17 for my 09 4.0 6speed 4x4. TRD Offroad.

I ran 275-70-18 on a 18x9 wheel with no issues.

275-70-18 was a true 33” tire, fuel economy and gearing was good, no complaints lol! Ask me after I slap on the 35’s lol!

    Nice looking truck!

That's good to hear. If you were ok with the ~33 then I guess I should be good with a ~32.

I know this is a dead thread but I’m gonna resurrect it! How did this tire size work out for you all? Any rubbing? I’m looking into getting this same size tires put on my Tacoma and am a wee bit nervous. Currently I’ve got 265/75/16’s KO2’s on a TRD trail team rim and will be moving to a 17x8 0 offset moto metal rim with KO2’s. I’ve read so many conflicting stories that I hope I’ll be one of the lucky ones with no rubbing! I have a 2” leveling kit in the front and 2” blocks in the back. Also have 1.25” spider traxx spacers on for current set up but know I’ll have to take them off or else I’d be sticking way out of the fender well. I did however pick up some 1/4” spacers just incase!

3in lift, Tow package, Any time 400w inverter, in cab outlet, vinyl floor, roof rack
1.5in levelling kit and 1.5in wheel spacer.

Only rubbing is this fender liner. When the wheel is hard over to one side or the other. Small trim is all.
Nothing that requires cutting the Cab mounts like on my FJ.
