Did you ever get a solution to running 275/70R/17 on stock rims and lift? I'm thinking of doing the same thing but am going to do a 1 1/2" leveling lift. But from what I'm reading it sounds like it's not the vertical lift thats important, its more about the side clearances?

on stock sport wheels it will be close to or may rub the UCA. I installed this size on a '15 with 4Runner TRD wheels and a 2" spring lift. Removed the mud flaps before lifting, but I am pretty sure they would have rubbed at 1/2 steer. I didn't do a full stuff at steering lock on the jacks, but never had any perceived rubbing when wheeling a couple times on some gnarly 2-track/stump gardens. Clearance to the UCA was plenty with those wheels and some tires without all the sidewall silliness.

gotcha... I guess I'll just go with the 265/70/17 Falken WildPeak AT3 for now to be safe since I definitely need tires asap, and then look for a 2" or 3" lift in the near future. Maybe will even be able to get the 285/70/17 for a more aggressive look. I'm not doing any off road activities - mostly just to the beach/camping where you can actually take your truck into those camping sites.

    thanks!

I had 275/70/17 nitto ridge grapplers on my stock sport TRD wheels and put a 1.25 spidertrax spacer and had no problems at all. I have since put a 3” lift but before I never had any issues. Just get good spacers !!

It’s because yours is an older model, that won’t work with the gen 3 Tacoma, 275/70 gonna rub that upper control arm

It will fit with a good quality wheel spacer 1.25 like a spidertrax!

Probably will not fit without wheel spacers. I just got Bilstein 5100’s installed yesterday and want to put 275/70r17’s on. The shop owner said id have to get wheel spacers until I can get the right wheels.

What is the biggest size I can go on tires with a stock 2023 TRD SPORT (17 wheels) with Mud Flaps? (I’m planning on buying the 17 TRD wheels of the 4 runner before tires). Planning on doing a 2” lift but don’t know what to do first the lift or tires.

Biggest tire size for a stock 23 TrD Sport with mud flaps with no rubbing. (Going to get the 4Runner 17 inch wheels)

I think you can go 265/70R17's on there without having to worry. Any wider and you'll probably run on the UCA until you put wheels that dont have a +30 offset. I did the lift first, and am stuck deciding between the 275's and 265's.. I think i'm going to go with bronze or black TRD SEMA wheels with 275's. If I could find a 275 that was a C rated tire I would be 100% sold, but so far I cant find one. I just dont want to add a lot of weight in tires and loose power, and alsoput extra stress on the drivetrain. I'm not so much worried about the MPG, after all I bought a truck. My truck only has 6k miles on it so I'm not really planning on a tune yet.

Makes sense, so in that case a lift will not help if I plan on going with 275’s even with the 4Runner TRD PRO RIMS. Thanks for the input! And yeah I’m at 5k right now in miles so still got ways to go
