Question? I have a 2010 tacoma crew cab, and am installing 285/70/17 pro comp all terrains on pro comp wheels. I had to buy the wheels so that the tire doesn't rub on my upper control arm. My question is i'm looking to put the 285/70/17 on my stock spare tire to keep just in case i get a flat, will the wheel work and not rub on the UCA or am i going to have to bite the bullet and buy an aftermarket rim for a spare.

It's not going to fit in the stock spare location, so you might as well go ahead and get a rim that matches your others and put it into a 5 tire rotation.

It will fit with some minor modification.
    Mounting a 285 (or 33") spare tire

I don't know about the rubbing though.

Don't be so sure. The hardware around the spare has changed from year to year. Newer 2nd gens are reported not to find that mod to work.

The way I "solved" this was to get a slightly smaller spare - 265/75R16.

    Good to know Moose. I don't have 33's so I can't comment first-hand.

I'm in the same situation. We need to find a source for a cheap ass wheel that will work without rubbing to use as a spare

What size IS your spare wheel anyway? Is it actually a 17" steelie? Or did they give you a 245/75R16 "full size" spare??
