I'm buying a 4x4 double cab by the end of summer and I want to start buying my general grabbers now so I don't spend my money on anything else But will 285/75/17 fit on the Tacoma?

First, I think you meant either 285/75R16, or 285/70R17.

This size is typically fitted on a truck with a 3" lift and considerable wheelwell trimming of plastic, if not a cab mount chop.

    I just re-read your post.

Sorry, man, to say this but it is just really dumb to buy tires before you even own the truck they're going to go on, for several reasons.

Save your money towards the truck itself, or pay down your credit card debt with the money you have in hand.

    Some rubbing?

    "Some rubbing" applies to 285/75-16.

Well I've got a 91 pickup I'm restoring and a 05 reg cab I'm going to sell to put a down payment for my truck that's why I was thinking about buying the tires now so I don't waist my money on stupid stuff?

Buy a lift first. No way you can fit those.

    For future reference:
    1. This is one of the most commonly asked questions on this site
    2. We have a wheels and tires subforum, where you'll actually get wheels and tires advice rather than the life advice usually received in the 2nd gen forum.

I agree, put more down on the truck. Pay it off quicker and then mod away.

That is a 31.5" tire. OP was asking about a 33"+ tire.

And it also looks like you have a lift. Did you read the OPs question at all, or just the title?
