I have a 2005 TRD sport. I dont know what kind of lift it has. Shocks say blistein and think it has a leaf over on the back. It currently has 275 70 17s on it that fit fine. But that is weird size, cant find a MT in that tire size. I really dont want to go down a size to the 265 70 17. But im worried the 285 70 17s I want wont fit...

The 275s are fine but are so close to the UCA I cant even get a finger in there. When the tread was new they rubbed a bit on the UGA at full turn. It does not rub at all on the cab or anywhere in the wheel well with and no trimming has been done that I can see.

    Two questions...

Will I have big issues with 285s (will I have to do a cab mount chop)?

Would spidertrax 1.25 spacers fix this issue with rubbing on the UCA?

Thanks. Will I have to do a cab mount chop? I couldnt imagine it because the 275 is so far from rubbing on it... just looking at it it seems like the tire smashing against the UCA would be the only issue and in my mind a spacer would fix that if that was the case???

igrom32 I have been reading threads all day with your name all over them. Im glad you replied here. I didnt mention that I have stock TRD sport rims... Does that make a difference? The slightly smaller 275s have never touched the cab mount.

igrom32 were your 285s close to the UCA at all? My 275s barley have room to breath they are so close to it. Like I said it does rub on that a bit but nothing else.

Im running 285/75R16 on my truck with a 3in OME suspension and LR UCAs and I just removed my mudflaps. I have NO cab mount rubbing what so ever. I did trim the inner fender well.

    Thanks monsta coma, missed that.

WiR3D that is slightly bigger than a 285/70/17 am I right? This tire stuf is going to drive me nuts! How can you fit it but others say I need a CMC? What is OME suspension and what is LR UCA?

That should be jsut about the same size considering Im running a 16in Wheel as opposed to a 17. OME is a suspension lift kit and LR UCA are upper control arms that I switched to because I was rubbing on my stock UCAs. I did NOT need to do the cab mount chop though. I honestly think you will be find with that setup. Im also running spacers on my truck which was my first adjustment before moving to LR UCAs. 1.25in spidertrax.

Did the 1.25 spidertrax not keep you from rubbing on the UCA? You still had to change the UCA?

They kept me from rubbing the UCAs, YES. I wanted to change over to new UCAs because of my lift on my truck. I believe I could run without the spacers with my LR UCAs and not rub as of now.

So if my 275s are rubbing the UCAs on full turn it will be a bit worse with the 285s I know. Do you think it will be much worse or very similar? The 285 shouldnt be any wider when its mounted on the same rim right? If it is much worse I can fix it with a spacer it seems?

    Thanks for your help.

    Too few to list.
It's not the UCA, it's your oem wheels. Either need spacers or wheels with correct backspacing.
