    Hey guys,

I'm wondering if 2WD spindles will fit a 4WD truck? I've looked through the forum posts related to this and I believe the answer is yes. Seems like the only difference is the 2WD spindles have a cap in the hub where the driveshaft goes through on the 4WD model.

    Thanks!

If you're willing to press out the parts on the spindle, yes the actual spindle itself is the same if its from a Prerunner (6 lug)

By the way, think you meant axle ;)

Ok and what parts are you referring to? The upper ball joint, ABS gear and wheel bearing?

The spindles are from a 6 lug Prerunner and yes you're right, I did mean axle...whoops

The wheel hubs are different to allow for the axle to come through.

The ABS isn't specific to 4wd or 2wd, that'll be determined by your own truck and the donor truck.

Ball joints, upper control arms, etc all the same.

Right. So as far as the hubs, all I would need to do is get rid of that center cap on the 2WD hubs so my axles can come through, correct?

I doubt that very very very much. A two wheel drive spindle wont have the broze bushing and needle bearings. I don’t imagine they are even machined for it.

Hmmm...yeah I think I understand what you're saying. But it's my understanding now that the spindles are the same between 4wd and Prerunner once the parts are pressed out.

    No need to doubt.

The bare spindle itself is identical.

The wheel hub needs to be replaced as the 4wd variant accepts a cv axle.

    Correct

And with that, I'm looking for ideally rust free 4WD or Prerunner spindles. But I can't make a "WTB" post in the 1st Gen Buy/Sell/Trade forum because I'm not at the 50 post minimum... damnit haha
