What about 16x8 with like a 31x10.50?? On stock suspension. Will that still rub?

I had 33x12.5 and I rubbed pretty bad and that was with a 3in lift it would hit the fender flare the uca and the frame at full lock

Yeah but the 8inch wide rim is wider than the stock rims.

The width of a 255 works in our favor, as long as you don't have offset rims or wheel spacers. You could make this work by doing some trimming behind the mudflaps. A heat gun and some massaging might even work. Many people ask about 33s on stock suspension, but I've never read about anyone actually trying it.

I'm pretty sure that my 5100s at the 1.75 setting have a longer compressed length than stock struts. If I'm right, this helps my setup work. I haven't done any trimming and I have mudflaps on (not stock flaps)

I want to keep my mud flaps from rocks being thrown. Like a stated before.

For 255s, no and no. Increasing backspace from stock with spacers or different wheels moves things outward and increases the pivot arc of the tire. That makes them rub front and rear at full lock even more. Lift doesnt change that geometry.

Bw s256 turbo with 3 in glass pack dumped pre axle raptor liner bed and top rails and fenderflares and rocker panels. Hunter side steps. Plasti-dipped upper fenders and emblems. satin black spray paint here and there inside and out. 5100's set to 1.75" up front . C channel front bumper. Maxxis bighorn 255/85/16
Nothing in the rear, Bilstein 5100 set at 1.75" up front, but there are people in the 255/85 thread that are running stock iirc

I have 285/70-17 and the tires would rub in reverse or forward on the aft mud flap and forward mud flap. Got rid of the forward one and cut out a section of the aft one and had no more rubbing. My rims are the 4Runner Trail Rims and my tire is about 1/2 in from the upper control arm. Offset/Tire Center line plays a huge role in the rubbing department. All in all I wish the I went with pizza cutters just to save the weight on rotational mass.
