    Why? Did I claim it was in cars in the 80's and 90's? I said the tech has been around. But I will give you a hint...it was a Toyota from 1974.

    Well, I stand erected, uhh.. "corrected" :D. You are correct. Indeed that tech did exist back then, though super rare. The 1974 Toyota Crown had that feature. I wonder if it was successful. In my opinion the engineers didn't find it worthwhile back then since so many years passed until another manufacturer did it and even more years passed before Toyota reintroduced it again.
