I found a good deal on a 2wd axle. I have a 4wd trd. Axles are from the same year. Will it work? As in axle I mean the shaft and not the whole thing.

I think it depends on whether you have e-locker.

It will so long as it's six lug and has ABS, if it does have ABS but your truck doesn't just cut off the ABS sensor wires and leave the sensors in place to keep the wholes plugged.

Also be aware that as you have 4wd you need to make sure the gear ratio of the 2wd axel/diff is the same as what you have installed or you will break something first time you use 4wd.

    Like, so many.
So you’re asking about a shaft for your rear end?

Yes just the rear left shaft. Not the whole assembly.

So is it 5 or 6 lugs? Did you read the links I posted or do you still have further questions?

I read it, I found one but it's asking if I have 8 or 8.4 and I have no idea what I have under my truck.

8 is the elocker, 8.4 is any other diff in a prerunner / 4wd (read open or non-locking diff). Each of these axles have 6 lugs per wheel. That's the first thing you have to account for. If your truck (which if it's 4wd it's 6 lug) and the replacement axle both have six lugs then you can move on to the next thing to check - ABS vs non-ABS. If the replacement shaft has 5 lugs it won't work.

Then make sure the replacement axle is from a truck with ABS if your truck has ABS. The ttora link shows that an ABS axle can fit in a non-ABS housing, but a non-ABS axle cannot fit in an ABS housing.

Any preferred sites you might suggest for the part?

@gunny1005 works for Camelback Toyota. He gives us an additional discount over the usual online dealer price so I wouldn't order one without talking to him on Monday first - it's not like it would ship out until Monday from another site anyway.

Camelback's website isn't that user friendly for finding part numbers so I usually use partznet.com for finding part numbers.

If you want a used one you can use car-part.com
