Will a camper shell lock my tailgate?

I have a 2014 Tacoma pre-runner. It does not have a lock on the tailgate. Can I add an aftermarket lock? Also, i want to buy a camper shell.. Either leer or snugtop. Do they make it so I can still securely lock the tailgate by adding the camper shell?

 

pop & lock makes a handle with a key for the tacoma, from what ive read, people have had ok luck with them so far.. build quality not quite up to snuff.

and from my experience with canopies, with the rear glass down, it covers and secures the tail gate from opening.

 

Look up Pop Lock on Amazon, I installed one on my 2003. They probably have one for your body style. The shell will likely overlap the tailgate on the outside, so if you get one with locking handles, you'll be double locked. That's what I did at least.
