    Whole bunch of shit! $$$
Just wondering if anyone is going to pass on the Toyota Care service? I think I might, I can change my own oil, check all my fluids , and rotate my tires myself. I will try to get the free oil off them though for oil changes. Anyone else?

I have not bothered with it, I prefer doing it myself, I personally don't like others messing around with my vehicles.

I doubt they'll just hand you the oil... that would be awesome though haha.

I took my 2015 in for one oil change... Greasy finger prints on the wheel and the interior door handle, all over the fender and oil spilled on my intake. Didn't grease the u-joints because that was for "severe duty" applications. They haven't touched it since. I run full synthetics. It's just a ploy for them to sell you more accessories and services.

Dealer is 40 minutes away, I don't have time for that. Easier to just do it myself.

it's free oil change, although they always had an excuse or outright didn't rotate the tires or set the air pressure. Just make sure they do the oil change though. One time they didn't do it and they acted like i was lying to them.

Like others it's a bit inconvenient for me to schedule around it. The dealer is half an hour away, truck is my daily driver and I have no backup. I changed my own oil, greased u joints, and changed the tires out before 5k, so I should be fine.

I'll likely bypass the 5000 but make an effort to make the 10000. It's a 'free' oil change after all.

I'm not going to use it. The local dealer is a shitheel, and I don't like or trust them. I'd rather do the work myself.

I tried to get the selling dealer to delete the Toyota Care from the sale and refund the price but they indicated there was no way to do that. I'm sure it's not "free" but I'll take the loss to never have to see my local knuckleheads.

I used mine at 10k and 20k for oil changes. Wasn't worth my time outside of that.

So I assume Toyota care came with the extended warranty? Or is the 3 year free scheduled maintenance different?

as for dealer work, I can see where you guys are coming from...but I work in a dealership as a technician and I almost take offense to these "dealer kids are stupid" comments. I think it's not so much the kid, but those around them, don't teach them right and they'll have bad work ethic....mistakes happen but even the most seasoned technician makes them sometimes.

I would hope that everyone who post negative comments can point to a personal experience that has caused them to distrust their dealer, as opposed to just a blanket "I don't trust dealers" attitude.

I'm not going to list the actual events that caused me to dislike and distrust my local dealer, but suffice it to say I went 280 miles to a different dealer to buy my new truck, because I was so displeased with the way I was treated locally when I had a warranty claim on my previous truck. I treat every business relationship I enter into as a good one, and extend trust and respect, until such time as those virtues are not reciprocated...then, fuck them.

So I'm not slandering your profession, I'm stating my specific distrust for one particular dealer (Mid City Toyota, in Eureka, if anyone cares).

Are we able to clear the Maintenance Light that comes on. If so, I will pass on Toyota care and do it myself moving forward. I'm like you, I do not trust anyone working on my stuff. I have taken it to them twice though so they know the service has been done and if there are any warranty issues later down the road they can't blame it on not changing the oil. I would rather just keep the receipts from my purchased oil and use that. What oil do you guys put in your truck?
