I have a stock exhaust on my 2006 dcsb, i have a completely stock exhaust system and i want to get a deeper sound with it. Will it be safe and will it make it louder if i dump it downwards? I also have a K&N cold air intake. Any advice is appreciated, thanks guys!

Buy a new muffler. Dumping the stock exhaust won't do anything.

Is this legal in California? I'd like to do it for rock clearance.

    Thanks.

    Same here. :)
I think the truck looks more uncluttered with the exhaust nicely tucked underneath and out of the way.

And with the stock muffler, it's not any louder behind the axle than out the rear quarter. The camera only picks up the sound if it's on the ground and practically shoved under the truck.

I do believe that it might be deeper if the pipe was dumped right after the muffler but I don't want to cut it off. I'm sure someone else who has can describe the results.

It wont make a big difference. Swap the stock muffler with a quality piece from Borla if you want to make it a bit louder.

It does make the inside drone/sound alot better. Almost quiets down the inside noise. I did this to 2 of my Taco's with difeent mufflers.
looks good and sounds better. :)
