Yup. I've only heard mine a few times. About the same number of times that I heard the exact same function on our Subaru that we have owned since 2014.

    Update if anyone is interested:
The lady at the Toyota dealer who I worked with through my whole purchase this year got back to me about my question of 'What should I do about this? My new truck falls into the recall category' ..
From what I've been reading though several different sources says (And I'm only concerned with the Taco's) ...
The latest FP recall goes up to Sept 2020 on this particular rig. The build date on my truck is May 2020. She ran the VIN on my truck and told me it's not on the recall list. Even the brand-new updated one. So now I'm confused.
Now I'm wondering .. Since i have the 4-banger ... If Toyota used a different FP on the 4 cyl vs. the waaaay more popular 6 cyl. ??

This is a Batch Issue. That is why the VINs are sporadic.

Here is excellent background info. It all but says that this is an ethanol problem combine with a tolerance issue on some batches. With the recent expansion, that document may get updated.

    OK, more update:
I checked on parts at Rock Auto. The newest Taco they had listed where they had FP's was 2019. Although they look pretty much the same, there was different part #'s for a 4/6 cyl. Maybe, the 2.7's aren't having this prob, and why my VIN is not listed on the recall? Maybe I'm dodging a bullet here? (I hope so...)
I may (probably) be wrong, but I think I remember reading elsewhere that the prob with these pumps is not so much, say, the motor, or bad valving, etc, as that there are plastic parts that are getting eaten up by the ethanol in the gas... resulting in failure. (you'd think they'd have this figured out by now, if that indeed is the prob..) ... IDK... Anyone else have any info on that?

Nope. Same pump. Just had my 2.7 pump replaced under recall. Part numbers on my slip match numbers on 6cyl slips posted on this forum.

Ahhhh ... that sounds about right...
"The subject vehicles are equipped with a low-pressure fuel pump, located in the fuel tank, that supplies fuel pressure to the fuel injection system. These fuel pumps contain an impeller that could deform due to excessive fuel absorption. Although the cause is unknown,if impeller deformation occurs, the impeller may interfere with the fuel pump body, and this could result in illumination of check engine and master warning indicators, rough engine running, engine no start and/or vehicle stall while driving at low speed. "

Like a good politician, they're hinting that they know what the problem is, but they just won't come right out and say it, right? LOL.
Seems to me the permanent fix would be to just make the impeller out of, say, aluminum ... But then that would cost an extra $5.00, which would have the bean-counters screaming...

The OVT TT fuel pump upgrade uses a DW pump with materials that don't react to ethanol:

Yeah, thanks I did look it up and I also asked service advisor while I was there already and it is normal. I knew about the ticking from fuel injector but not the pump in the back. I guess you learn something everyday. Thanks

Pump recall scheduled for next week. 2018 Sport. Agree with other poster, nice to get it done, one less thing to fix down the line as long as I keep truck in ECT mode, I’ve learned to love it.

I have a 2020 TRDORSB with approx. 18K miles Bought in Oct. 2019. I just received a recall notice regarding the possibility of stalling due to a low-pressure fuel pump which may stop operating (no serial number range given..just if you have a 2020 Tacoma). I have had no issues with stalling and being unable to restart my truck. Question: Has anyone experienced this issue with their 2020 models? Should I have the recall done? I'm 40 - 50 miles from the two nearest dealers and don't relish the notion of sitting around for 2 or more hours to get it done. However, I have a free service I can get at 20K and maybe get the recall done then if even necessary. I hate letting Toyota serve my trucks. I've had 3 Tundras and 2 Tacomas in the past 18 years and had all of them serviced by a SUPER "indy" in my home town. However, I had numerous TSB's (no recalls) done on my 2016 Tacoma and all were done great IMO.

I'm sure this has been discussed in previous posts but the ones I read seem to deal with '16 and '17 Tacomas and were more about removing the bed or dropping the tank.

Pretty much do it when it's convenient. Your 2020 is blanketed in, but is associated to the problems that the 17-19's experienced.

Not many dealers remove the bed anymore, most drop the tank half way and do it that way. The nightmares of fuck ups are all over.
