Will extended periods with no power cause the trans to go into "learning mode" again?

Will extended periods with no power cause the trans to go into "learning mode" again?

I was installing some audio equipment last evening and had the battery disconnected for several hours. It almost seems like it drives differently now that I've done that. I'm wondering if the trans is back in learning mode or if you have to actually do something with the software to reset the trans into "learning mode."

My first thought is that it is back into learning mode as I wouldn't know where it'd be getting power to store the previously learned driving habits, but I'm no expert.

I ask because I babied the truck when I first got it and the trans was learning. I got the software update and drove it more aggressively than I typically drive and really, really liked the difference vs the "babying" learned habits. I'm just wondering if I need to teach it to be aggressive again.

    Thanks ahead of time!

    the answer is yes

you need to drive 'the pattern' again for it to learn to like how your foot pushes the gas
and it will adjust shift points and lockup

So you are saying that if you took it easy on the go pedal during break in the transmission will always keep this pattern until you do a reset? How long does the battery need to be disconnected to get transmission into this reset mode?

I don't think anyone has the facts on how the system actually responds or learns according to specific stimuli. All we can do is assume or speculate

I don't have a 3rd generation but my guess would be that it's always learning. If I were the programmer I would look at data from the last X number of events. Let's say you were light on the gas for many miles then hooked up a trailer or loaded it up with bags of sand. Or if you drove through Kanas then went through the Rockies. It should compensate shortly after doing that.

If all power runs out from the vehicles engine control module, it will reset, therefore forgetting whatever learned values were stored.

My Subaru, for example, has to relearn fueling and ignition advance adjustments when I clear a DTC with my laptop. Just drive it for a while, and it'll go back to normal.
