Like stated open/open is fine. It takes a bit more skill but is fun. Throttle control, picking a good line and using brakes will get you most places. Sometimes a second try with a little more momentum is all you need to get up the obstacle.

Locked really takes a lot of fun away from wheeling. Less chance of breaking shit also.

Its all about picking the line that you can or cant make, a locker will help you get up the more gnarley stuff and pick the big boy lines and articulation helps alot of stuff too.

More speed! Bounce up an obstacle and you have more fun anyway.

Here is an example of me doing just that! I try the slow steady approach and no luck with the open diffs. Little throttle, momentum and a bounce to get right up.

Then you'll hear the expensive sounds of parts breakage !!

My.old Jeep Rock Crawler had Detroit lockers front /rear and was geared at 135:1 low range and also had 12 forward and 4 reverse gears

Geared that low plus locked front/rear made for easy rock crawling !!

This was about 20yrs ago in the East County of San Diego at Corral Canyon OHV Park

I was in 2nd gear overdrive in low range idling up this steep hill with very little throttle inpyt?

I used to rock crawl with Marlin from Marlin Crawlers and his Toyota made my jeep look bad !! , he we always beat me in Turtle Races

    As everyone has stated......

Run it open diffs. Get out and wheel before you modify. Add accessories and mods as needed. Not before. You will see weaknesses. Deal with those. Not ones you read on forums. You will have to decide how you want to offroad and what you want the truck capable of. Lockers are definitely not required to offroad some pretty neat trails and harder tracks.

Off roading can mean so many different things in different parts of the country .

These days I am happy to get out my driveway every day.

a bumper and winch will probably be cheaper then having lockers installed, and look better too lol just sayin :oldglory:
