I hadn't realized people were so into modding their trucks... I now find myself falling victim of time waste - watching the various Youtube videos pointing out the mods other owner's have made... Not good for a person awaiting a build. In my sampling of such videos to date, I must say putting on more chrome is, well... vive la différence. :drunk:

I also de-badged the truck. So I did remove some chrome!

Lomax tonneau cover, oem bed lights, AJT Design chrome delete, black out badges & tailgate letters, AVS hood deflector & vent visors, Solkie tech hood supports, interior LED lights, Tufskinz mud guards, RedArc TowPro Liberty, bed mat, kicker speaker upgrade, Hikari ultra H11 low beams, Diode Dynamics SS3 fogs in yellow, Meso customs total taillight stage 1. Coming soon: Compact powered sub install Future mods planned: bigger tires (265/75/16) BILLSTIEN 5100 lift
I'm not at all sure what the tech package includes besides LED headlights and blind spot monitors.
I didn't want a truck with a ton of things I could live without or would only use a few times so I got an SR5.
I like LED lights but I updated the interior to them, not hard or expensive. I added drop in LED low beam headlights whilst not as good as OEM factory they work better than halogen, still look moden and were not thousands of dollars.
Blind spot would be nice but I am closer to 50 years old every year and managed to drive with out that since I was 17 years old and am still here to tell about it. So it's fine without to me.

It's your money and your time waiting for a truck. You have to figure out what you can or will be willing to live with.

The RCTA - rear crossing traffic alert is a tech package element that using rear facing sensors mounted in the rear bumper, is used to detect movement perpendicular to the vehicle... Sometimes, people will mitigate the chance they'll bump into someone in a parking lot by pulling forward in a parking spot to be in the nearby isle facing forward. Others will back their vehicle's into a spot, effectively accomplishing the same thing. I admit to not being super proficient at backing into spots and never have really. Additionally, with back problems, sometimes just turning to look over my shoulder can result in a good deal of pain.

They say, it's never too late to teach an old dog new tricks. It would be smart for me to brush up on my backing up skills with the truck in a VERY empty parking lot.

I picked up my 2022 DCSB OR 6mt in December. It was a quick turn around. Discussed wanting a truck with the wife on a Monday. Visited one stealership Friday that wanted 7.5k over. Visited 4 stealerships and 2 dealerships Saturday. Nobody had what I wanted. Made an out of the way trip an additional 20 miles north and that dealership had an unclaimed 2022 DCSB OR 6mt allocated to them. I wanted the premium package, LED lamps and advanced tech packages. This one had premium and tech but no LEDs. I sorta settled and bought it two days after it arrived for MSRP (this was all Mid Dec 21). I added LEDs during the Wesley Toyota sale and got them for about 1.1k shipped to my door. Swapped the fogs for DD SS3 max. Added anytime front/rear cam. Still not as cool as the advanced tech and I wish I had gotten it without the basic tech because I’m going to swap in a BAMF high clearance rear that won’t work with the BSM system but I still get the parking sensors which is cool I guess lol. Yes it cost me more than getting these things directly from Toyota. But I don’t regret it because I got a 6mt DCSB OR with leather, seat heaters and sunroof that I REALLY wanted and I got it quickly and at MSRP.

Long story short OP, if you want it soon, settle for whats available. If you need to have an exact build, wait it out and allocate time to call and email everywhere to see whats coming. Most dealerships aren’t going to take the man power needed to reach out to you when something’s coming in because it’s going to sell ASAP anyway.

When I took my truck in for it’s last oil change and checkup a couple of weeks ago, there were no trucks on the lot, and no salespeople. It was eery quiet. Just people handling service and all of the folks waiting.

Well, one thing that comes to mind are leases...

I got my '18 last fall. It came in off a lease. And I guess I wonder, in this new crazy market, is that even a pathway for a car to get to the used market anymore? I mean, most leasing contracts have the buyout price on them, right? So at the end of the lease, you know what you'll pay to keep the vehicle. With prices doing what they're doing, I can't imagine many people turning their Tacos back in to a dealer, since their buy price is probably way below market right now... especially since those lease contracts were signed before the pandemic.

In the fall of '22, I imagine there will be '19s coming in off a lease and onto the used lot, if they're coming in at all...

I have led light head/fog and don't think I have the tech package. It has lane assist but mirrors don't have orange light up when someone's in my blind spot like my jetta. The car needs it the truck I can see the blind spot a lot easier. I also don't have moon roof or leather like the car. After having those things I realized I didn't really care about then or even need/use them. Appleplay does my nav for me when I need it. If it's sometbing your used to and you can't be without then wait it out and get what you want. If your not used to it and just feel like you need it then you may end up being disappointed with it anyway. I say get a color you like, the package you like sport,OR,Pro, etc. And go from there. Everything else is an easy add on from that point.

I didn’t want bsm or Parking sensors when I got my truck in 2016. I had them take stuff off when I bought it. Carpet floor maps, $650 side steps.
Bsm, I’ve always kicked out my side view mirrors to where I barley see my truck and can see everything in my blind spot. Of I even see my truck at all if I’m leaning a certain way. If i need to see behind me i have a review mirror. Helps more with wide angle or spotter mirrors.
Parking sensors, with after market FRAC doesn’t really seem to be a need for a fairly reasonable cost. Or if you’re good with special awareness and or depth perception. I learned without it I’m sure I can accommodate not having it.
Dual climate control, for me, open a vent or close a vent. I also bought my truck when I was single so didn’t care about anyone but myself as it was just for me and my dog.
LED headlights were not in the picture at the time for the 2016 models so wasn’t a concern but I did upgrade to them in 2020.
I like simple. Hell, the 2016’s don’t even have auto rear window.
Same goes for the my tundra, no bells and whistles. both do exactly what I need them to do. Yes I have upgrades but at my own expense for a fraction of the cost to fit my needs.

I have zero regrets. Even in resell I don’t regret it. Spend more to get a little more resell. Spend less to get a little less. It’s option which may attract certain crowds or detour certain crowds. I just know I got what I wanted.

That is because new models have carplay and android auto or you might have bypass it...

Mine doesn't have it. Some of features are disabled during driving... meaning you can not use some features or type in the fields.

If I use car play, then it would be different story. Which means I can type in on phone then send it to the head unit for navigation.. It would be better for me. Which I have this method on my phone for Garmin GPS.

I can head my phone to my friend or a passenger to type in the address where he/she wants to go to... then I get the phone back to send it to my head unit.. It works that way and that's what I want.

I appreciate the extra safety functions, and unlike a lot of other vehicles I've driven, you can turn them off and have them stay off when not wanted. A lot of other stuff in the tech package were things I didn't really need, but having lived with the truck for nearly two years now I've been really enjoying having them. Parking sonar and the 360 camera set in particular have made the truck way easier to drive and faster to park in the city for me (especially being someone with a bad back who has trouble turning around or looking over his shoulder to back up)

LED OEM lights aren't cheap, but they look and work great, and won't give you any issues like many aftermarket options are known to. My coworker with halogens on his truck is already planning to swap his to the OEM LEDs for his next upgrade.

Has anyone who didn’t find a truck with factory LED headlights upgraded after the fact? Did I read correctly that an aftermarket harness is required?

Yes you will need a harness. There is a thread on here about it.
