I have a modest lift (2"), and avg 20-21 mpg in summer conditions.

I also run P rated 265/70/17's, with stock Tundra wheels that weigh 27 lbs (weigh roughly 1 lb more than the factory wheels).

At the moment, Torque is telling me I'm averaging 12mpgs. Probably the lowest in the ten years I've owned the truck. Don't know if it's the tires, "winter gas", or just age of the truck. I used to meet or exceed the EPA estimate on 305/60r18s. Now I can't come close with the same tire in 285's.

Just because the rims are wider, doesn't mean the tires are wider. 245 is actually very narrow. 265 is stock.

Heavier wheels = lower MPGs and heavier tires = lower MPGs.

A lift increases wind resistance which lowers MPGs as well.

Lots of variables, but you're not doing anything too radical so I'd not expect a huge difference, maybe 1-2 mpg. But generally wider tires with more aggressive tread creates more rolling resistance and hurts fuel mileage. Skinny tires with less aggressive tread does better. Lifting the truck will hurt aerodynamics. Larger diameter tires change the axle ratios and really mess with engine performance if tires are too large unless you regear.

Basically the further you go from stock, the worse fuel mileage and engine performance you'll get

How will my speedometer be affected if I go up to 265/75/16 from 245/60/16?

245/60/16? Thats not a standard tire size for a tacoma. Are you sure you don't mean 245/70/16? This site will help you figure out the changes

Your indicated speed will register a couple MPH slower than your actual speed. You'll probably lose a couple MPG.

I recently took a road trip and was blown away i could watch my gas gauge plummet as I drove on the highwya @ 80mph...... I recently switched from 265/70-17 BFG AT KO (load range C) to 265/70-17 Cooper Discoverer STT Pros (load range E) and after seeing how much they killed my mileage I have already started shopping to go back to the BFGs.... anyone in the midwest interested in the stt pros haha?

    I have a 2011 TRD offroad, after adding 285/75/16 tires, I'm 1mph off at 65mph.

245/70-16 is NOT a standard size either. 245/75-16 is.
