They have FULL discretion. This is what SUCKS about Toyota! Dealerships are privately owned. ToyotaUSA has NO say so what so ever in what goes on a Toyota dealership, unless your Toyota is under factory warranty. PLEASE, Toyota Master Mechanics chime in! So their decision is the TOTAL end decision. You can always take it to another dealership and see what they say. If their techs decide it needs to be changed, they will create an RO. Do the repairs, use the Toyota TIS system flat rate guide, submit the invoice to ToyotaUSA for reimbursement.

Calling, writing, emailing, having your attorney file a lawsuit in state district court and serving the dealership's and ToyotaUSA's attorney's does this...

    ToyotaUSA logs your complaint

ToyotaUSA provides your attorney with contracts and Corp paperwork between them and said (applies to all dealerships!) dealership and standard Toyota contract stipulations, etc...

Helps future owners who suffer a loss, because enough complaints maybe will trigger a recall.

In other words, ToyotaUSA, will and can not legally do anything to help you! All complaints do is help other owners.

Roughly, $2500 a month in legal fees since July 05, 2016 involving a Toyota dealership who damaged my Tacoma.

Currently, working on getting ASE certifications, so that after on top of other testimonies, mine will matter!

Sorry for the long post... But that's. EXACTLY how it works!

Run away from that truck as fast as you can.

FYI, the dealership, originally, caused a little over $4,000 in damages. Spiralled out of control, I'm so far in, if I quit, I lose everything!

The whole thing started with HG's!!!!!

Just FYI for everyone as a Toyota and Lexus owner. With Lexus, what you pay for is 2 things...

    Longer warranty

Lexus Corp has FULL descretion over all decisions. Lexus dealerships are not like Toyota dealerships. Meaning, if you have an issue, Lexus Corp will resolve it and assign a local customer service representative at a local dealership to make sure everything is done 100% to correct the issue.

I know Lexus doesn't sell Tacoma or Hilux versions, just stating the facts.

It's a trade off... Personally, Lexus is a rip off 99% of the time, Toyota's don't usually fail.

But there's those times where the extra cost is worth it.

Also, keep in mind there’s no Lexus recall on GX and other frames

So then is it worth paying a few thousand more for a rust free first gen. I've seen a couple at used dealers but between 16-19k. I depending what trade in value I could get for my current car it might be worth it?

How many miles? 15k is pretty ambitious for a sr5 with a cigarette burn on the drivers seat and a mismatched canopy.

Thanks everyone for their input! I think I'm going to keep looking for a rust free first Gen. I know there out there but pricey. What's the most you would pay for a 03-04 under 180k km?
