Yeah...but that little phrase under your name is probably the cause of that. :D

I took mine off as soon as I got my new wheels. I've had 1 rock come up and hit my passenger door and chip it, but that was probably because of how the tires stick out from the fenders. But some touch up paint fixed it. I have a lot of mud and crap that gets slung all over it, but again, my wheels are 16x10, so they're really deep. Get some sliders or something and you should be OK. My nerf bars have saved my paint quite a bit. I can be driving on a dirt road and hear rocks come up and hit them.

i took mine off when i had the lift and 33's on it. i live out a gravel road and my girlfriend does too...i had rock chips all over my truck after the first few weeks. needless to say, i took a dremmel to my flaps and trimmed them so i could wear the flaps and keep the 33's!

It's interesting on peoples opinions on stone chips. Yes its going to happen. No we are not afraid to get them. Myself I feel it is a extreme amount and posted this to find out if anyone else was having the same problem. I don't believe my 8 month old truck should have paint coming off the bottom of the wheel flair and the rest of the 10 x 10 area is turning white in color. May not be noticeable on the white trucks, but sure stands out on my barcelona red truck. I've own two trucks prior to this one and never had a paint issue like this. I take care of my vehicles and I make them last. I had my last two trucks for a total of 23 years and didn't see that happen to either one driving on the same roads I've drove this one.

No mudflaps huh? It all depends on what you're driving on and how fast you drive on it. If its highway and pavement, no problem. If it's gravel and dirt roads and you haul ass, it will definitely beat the hell out of the underside of the truck. Look what it did to my sliders:

I repainted the tube in the top center of the photo. The rest are still rockblasted.

I will say that the truck paint is absolutely fine and it's only my sliders that get beat to hell.

^ wow, thats with rugged trails too. Any more aggressive tire is going to be worse.

My old bronco had almost no paint on the rocker panels by the tires from rocks, but it had almost 300,000 miles on it too.

If your on any gravel roads the rocks will dent up the inside of your bumper.
It helps keep the snow from forming up in bumper as well

That's right in Montana if your bumper is higher than 24" off the Ground it's a ticket.

hey you got the nifty shotgun paint on your sliders too! except i got mine in mud brown. i used to try and repaint them every time i washed my truck but finally gave up. thats a losing battle. my rear bumper has a similar paint job on the bottom of it

This is why I want to get slider's, or something. So it can take the beating and not my truck. And then I can just repaint them.

Im ganna be spending alot of time doing paint touch up on my truck this summer! I drive on a gravel road every day... :(

Repainting is not fun. I want to devise a solution where I can remove my mudflaps easily at will. That would work for me.

Also, I begun to experiment for an alternate solution. My first attempt I painted one leg of the slider with 3M undercoating. It had rather good results, the leg sustained much less rock damage than the other legs, however, I don't want to put that crap all over my sliders.

Other ideas I thought of were chassis saver paint, or rhyno liner stuff.

I have paint chips on my '08 since i took my mud flaps off, but I don't really care about cosmetic damage like that; its a truck and its usually dirty more than clean.

I've seen a truck that had its sliders covered with Herculiner. As long as you do a good job on the application, I think it'd look pretty rad and do a good job protecting.
