Something ain't adding up here. Did you have your foot on the brake while you were flooring it? The computer won't let you use the brake and gas at the same time.

Not all boat ramps are the same grade. I've needed low range before pulling a 15ft fiberglass trihull out of the water. Sounds to me like it's an auto trans problem.

i thought that it was Tire smoke on the 3rd attempt but i guess it could have been this

I'm really worried about getting stuck on the boat ramp with this thing!!

I didn't put it back down in my yard i rented a storage so i wouldn't have to drag it back up the driveway

The engine smoking issue is on really steep inclines/declines, that doesn't look steep at all. If it's stalling out trying to go up that, you should take it into Toyota and give them the details. It sounds like when you called them they just assumed the boat was too heavy and brushed you off.

    Any check engine light?

I see guys pulling xstars and wakesetters with tacomas, I think you might need a trip to the dealer.

Ehh this isn't normal. You are way below capacity. I've towed more weight in the Adirondacks without an issue call the dealer and don't let them brush you off.

If he can't explain the symptoms clearly in writing, he doesn't have a chance in hell of convincing a dealer service writer.

    I'm confused.

When the engine stalled, did it physically shutdown requiring a restart of the ignition or were you sitting there at redline with your foot on the floor going no where?

So something I experienced while offroading may be similar in that my truck randomly shutoff on an obstacle and flashed a quick Transmission Temp warning. No codes no restart warning, it was literally a flash and a shutdown.

I havent experienced it since but maybe its related?

Is traction control kicking in and cutting power? Try it with trac off and trac off all the way.. and if you do a one wheel wonder, lock the diff.

That does not seem right, I've had no issues at multiple boat ramps loaded down for duck season.

Had a thought, did you check to see if the boat trailer brakes were locked up?

    Ya got gas? :anonymous:

Maybe you ran out of gas, if you can't find any other issues.
