Thee trucks are gonna be fine. Do all of you really think the worlds largest car manufacturer would take its most important North American product and put a completely dysfunctional engine it that will be blowing up left and right?

    No they wouldn’t

People fear the unknown. I get that but when they try and pull others into their fear that's strange to me.

Yeah it’s weird. I took a chance on the new Tundra and it is a complete marvel of a machine, an absolute beast. These Tacomas should be excellent.

Funny how so many on here just a year ago were like, oh no I could never have the 4cyl Tacoma. Its a tiny motor, I gotta have the V6 for what I do.

Then all of a sudden thats not an option and the same people are talking about how awesome and powerful and the incredible potential in a 4cyl. Who would ever want a V6 or for gods sake a V8???

    Crazy.

Thats some super mega Toytoa fan boy flip flopping there for sure.

ANd if the design was barely changed they'd complain with, "Same old Toyota, we want something new". Some people just like to complain and are never satisfied. They want full sized truck power and features in a mid sized truck.

In the sticky thread, there are people unironically cross-shopping 2500/f-250 class trucks with Tacomas. Sometime I think this is a special needs forum

People like Tacomas. I wouldn't buy a midsize to to handle 3/4 work. For the price of a TRD Pro you can get a 1/2 ton or a HD that has more capability, and you don't have to get a sunroof when you don't want it.

Yes, you can get a much less well-equipped larger vehicle for the same price. What a revelation. The use cases do not really overlap at all

What larger class vehicle can you get that has a better-equipped option package at any level for less than a Tacoma?

Most any fullsize 1/2 ton crew cab pick up with a more powerfull engine, more payload, and more towing capability. LED lights more tech and 4wd can be had for less than a Tacoma TRD Pro with a market adjustment, you might not get leather sunroof, and TRD Fox shocks.

Any trim level tacoma will come in VASTLY cheaper than a similarly equipped half ton, let alone 2500/250 class truck. You’re comparing base trucks to top trim. I can get a base nx350 for less than a rav4 prime, too

Nope mid level to Pro, but I'm also going by 2021 prices.

Where could you find a TRD Pro for $55k in 2021?

Why are you comparing a pro, which has far more optional equipment, to a lower trim ford?

The Ford has more optional equipment, the engine is an option, and there's at least six option packages.

I'm sure you can find a 1/2 ton today that has more optional equipment than a Pro Tacoma for less money than a Pro. The only option on a Pro is the automatic transmission.

For a difference of close to 5k less than a TRD Pro Tundra you can get a STX F-350. Both have the same must have features black wheels and grill, camera system and identification lamps the 350 also is equipped with a Warn winch and it still cost less.

7.3 V8 4.30 gears heavy service front end snow plow/camper package upgraded alternator Warn winch. I'd say it's better equipped, plus it still has 360° cameras, black wheels and grille, and LED headlights. What's a 1/2 ton truck do that a HD truck can't do?

Again, you’re comparing a much more base model truck with a plow package to something fully loaded up with all the off-roady and luxury bits.

you’re right that it’s better equipped to plow snow. No doubt. Exceptionally few people cross shop a TRD pro tundra (much less a Tacoma) for such work.
