will splashguards break away, or cause body damage?

I am new and searched and didn't find the answer yet. I have a 2016 with the factory mudflaps which are more like very stiff splashguards. Anyone know if they will break away before causing body damage if they get hung up on a ledge or something off roading? They seem like they are attached very well and very stiff. I know I can easily take them off to be safe, but I do like having them on during gravel roads and such to protect the truck. Thanks.

They could break off with rock terrain off roading thats why I removed mine a week after owning my OR4x4. I can't see them damaging to much unless they rip out the screws then your liner and flares will have a hard time being attached to anything. On the same note the stock "skids" splash guards are real damage multiplier if you plan on off roading. Took them to a week long Colorado trip and they rip to shreds and providing little to no protection at all. They actually got bent where it was cutting into the front collar shaft between the CV boot and the front diff.

They'll break away faster than Dennis Christopher in a Cutters jersey. Removed mine after about 3 weeks to prevent further stripping of the inserts.

I have Rally Armors...I cut crosses around the screw holes so it would tear away easily.

    Thanks Gentlemen,

I will definitely take off when I get into the rough stuff. I also like the ideas you sent about other alternatives. Just another thing I have to do eventually.
