Thanks. I made do with what I had. I really like the size of the 1st Gen double cabs, even if the 5' bed is pretty much useless without some type of camper setup (Flippac/RTT/etc). Once I replace my CV boots and ball joints I don't have any maintenance to come up for 30k+ other than oil changes.

The size of the first gen trucks was perfect wish the didn’t keep making them bigger.

I had one of the last Toyota trucks built in Japan. Build date was 12/94. I regret selling it. The 22-R motor was bullet proof.

Japanese workers also appear to have more respect for authority than their U.S. counterparts, as well as an entirely different attitude towards work. The Japanese apparently live to work and are willing to sacrifice their personal lives for the company. They are more tolerant of long hours and uncomfortable working conditions than U.S. workers, frequently work when they are sick and decline vacation time to avoid reducing productivity.

Isn’t “classic” designated at 25 years old?

To be fair, they flew the entire Fremont, California NUMMI staff to Japan for training for a few months before opening NUMMI. The plant literally went from having the worst production quality in all of GM when it was solely-owned by GM (mostly why it was closed down in 1982) to being GM’s top performing plant after the Toyota partnership re-opened the plant in 1984.

95-97 front end looks more like a classic toyota pickup than the 01-04s in my opinion

Classic or not, I'm the original owner of my '04 and every one of it's 193,000 miles came from me. There's no way I'd ever get rid of it.

There is no "tinfoil" in his hat. He's right on the money. It's a shame so many don't see what is growing up around them. Why do you think they are pushing electric and self-driving cars so hard? It's your freedom, pal, on it's way out.

There was actually a news report on FOX years ago where they actually showed a hacker getting into these new cars ECM through the entertainment system and hi-jacking control of the brakes. Just as anyone with the know how can hack into your PC and look as well as listen to everything that is done and said in front of that PC.

It's no wonder Mark Zuckerberg has electrical tape over his web cam and microphones.

Wife and I were on the back roads of NW Tennessee, last week. North of a little town, Crossville, a lot of early Tacomas on the left side of 127N. 1995 and up to 2004, lot of nice iron, pickups for sale, and very
re-buildable Gen 1's. that need some TLC. Not like new iron, but very nice, most 4WD's. I did ask about a couple parts. If anyone is looking for early Gen 1's, it would pay to give them a call.
Name: Rons Truck and More. 8033 Hwy 127N, Crossville, TN 38571. Ronnie Boggs 931-484-8477 Lot is loaded with Gen 1's.

I was planning on hanging onto my 1991 because of this, but Colorado eliminated the rolling 25-year classic status before that became eligible. That was a bummer because a diesel swap was going to happen at that point. But since it no longer qualified and wasn't grandfathered in it just became an old truck that still was rusting and had to pass an emissions test every other year. That's when I bought my Tacoma, just lost interest in wrenching on a truck all the time.

FWIW, I think to be classic it has to be fairly rare and somewhat unique. The FJ40, FJ60, 79-88 4wd Hilux. Those are classics. I never think of 89-95 trucks, any Tacoma, 90+ 4Runner as classics. There are so many of them and they aren't made to last like those old trucks were. First gen Tacomas are all over the place here still, hard to call them unique.
