I don't troll. I say what's on my mind. I was upset at my mileage, but that's all gone now.

The vehicle has grown on me.

You could lose 4000 grand now, or lose thousands of dollars later in money and time due to the massive amount of repairs that might be needed or because you're stuck on the road somewhere or because demand plummets because all the negativity.

I think a 4 grand loss is a lot better than driving a car, which is completely unreliable and bottom tier compared to the competition, everyday and hating every minute of it.

You're lucky to live past 60 years as a male. How much time do we all really have left?

Check out my build thread (Beginning of Money Pit)
    I bought my 3rd gen November 4, 2015.

I've had ZERO issues. No problems, nothing.
    Maybe I don't notice them.

Well shit I'll talk about Chevy's.. My 2016 6.2 Silverado has been flawless. No issues, no complaints, the dealer has been great... The 6.2 and 8spd tranny is wonderful.. Seriously 17,000 fantastic miles, 20mpg avg, fast, comfy, no squeaks, leaks, rattles, shakes, shimmy's- just smooth as silk.

I couldn't stand the issues with my 3rd gen, so I ditched it. BFD.

Bottom line is- find a truck you like and enjoy the pi$$ out of it!

BTW- Coming around the third gen forum is like revisiting Jr. High school when you're an adult. It seems so... small.

The only rational post in this thread. Why deal with issues when you don't have to?

I am not going to give up manual transmission unless I really have to, so I stay with the Tacoma, and thankfully I don't have any issues that really bother me.

If it comes to a point where I am going to the dealer a total of 9 times in a year for re-occurring issues, then I am out like a lightning bolt.

Well I will say I really wanted to like my tacoma after trading in my old chevy for it but it has really been a let down... they did not give these trucks the power or transmission they deserve. I am sitting around wondering how I get the dealer to fix problems instead of saying they are normal then Im like wait isn't that why I bought a toyota in the first place? so that I dont have to worry about issues like this?

annnnnnnd how dare you say anything bad about your truck here, you will have the usual 4 or 5 guys come down on you like a ton of bricks, telling you that you are full of it or you need to just suck it up and that the problems are not legitimate. Really now I wonder how many people never say anything just dump the truck? how many people are afriad to comment here about their problems because they get shit upon by the toyota defense squad?

im looking forward to getting rid of mine as soon as i can find a deal that isn't going to cost me 4,000+ on trade in....bc thats about where im sitting right now and thats a lot of money for somebody like me to just take a loss on

Brother I hear you. That's my song to a 'T'.. I kept hearing from the dealer that the epileptic transmission shifting, wavy hood, shitty mileage- 'All within normal characteristics'. You say something on here and it's like- "Fix the hood yourself", or "Your driving habits suck monkey balls" or "put the truck in EV mode and suck it up".. It's comical, really.

It's a new truck. It shouldn't shift like that, the hood shouldn't wave like a flag at the park, and for a mid-size 3.5l it damn well should get better mileage than a 6.2l full size Chevy!

I took a $2k hit on my trade in, and that was with 14,000 miles on the odo. I don't care.

How does the hood behave? Genuine question because I've heard of this, but didn't pay attention completely, and wondered today when I was driving. Is it a violent shake? I have a small wiggle.

Say it once, twice, even a dozen times and people will be accommodating and helpful and sympathetic. Say the same thing 12K times on every thread and people get tired of reading it. Take a look at this thread title for example: Will the 3rd gen be dependable... what happened? Those with issues came here to talk about their problems. Those without issues came here to say Yeah, it will be dependable. This is the way most threads work around here. No matter what the topic those guys with issues lament their woes. It gets old. Make a thread about the problems and post in it all they want. Let other topics be other topics. I understand you want to get rid of your truck and I cant blame you. I would have already dumped it and moved on with life. Good luck man and i hope you get a good one next time. Life is too short to get frustrated over a truck. This is supposed to be an enthusiasts forum. Look at the big banner above. Instead it is mostly a bitch and moan forum with not much enthusiasm.

Obviously too early to tell how well they will do on Long Term Reliability, hope my 17 does as well as my 2000, 2008, and 2015 did.

That is a telling comment right there.

Since when is any of this about winning?

Don't know you, even though I have an opinion about you, won't go there.

You are about to become a parent, potentially one of the happiest times in your life- my advice, get rid of the Tacoma now, get off TW, and enjoy this better, greater adventure- sincerely
