Hey guys I am re-gearing my 2005 4.0L 4WD 6 speed M/T tacoma sport and I am putting a new air locker in the rear and was wondering since I will have a left over LSD if that bolts up to the front diff at all? Unfortunately I dont have the extra money for a front air locker yet but it would be nice to use this LSD if I can. Let me know what your experience is. Thank you

If you haven't spent the money yet I'd recommend a front locker with your rear LSD instead of getting a rear locker and removing the LSD, it's about the same price and will arguably give you better traction.

A few folks think that, but there's a reason that lockers are almost inevitably installed on the rear before the front: most situations where you need to "lock it up" involve climbing and there's a weight transfer to the rear axle as a result of the steep slope, so the front has considerably less proportional traction than the rear as a result of carrying less of the vehicle's weight.

And no, the LSD carrier from the rear won't fit on the front.

great thanks for the quick comments. After talking to my friend too he said even if it fits it wouldnt be a great idea. I live in AZ and we climb mountains when we go offroading and its mostly the rear wheels that are slipping. I already spent the money on an ARB rear locker and 4.56 gears. Wish I had the extra for the front after all the labor of taking it apart already but oh well another day. My compressor will work with two lockers too so that will be setup for the front one in the future. New clutch, flywheel, gearing and air locker.....this is gonna be a fun winter :) What do you guys think my used LSD would be worth? 45k miles 40k of which were bone stock when I bought the truck. Maybe I can put some extra cash toward the front locker :)

a locked front and open or LS rear is also a good way to blow CVs a lot more frequently.
