Will the rcd lift work with 16" rims?

Hey, so after looking at the rcd site it claims that the 5" kit will allow for a minimum of 16x8" rims. However, after reviewing the rcd club thread I've seen a few people say it won't work with 16's and that it must be 17's. So what's the deal? any help would be appreciated.

I believe some have been able to use 16s with wheel spacers. Also depends on the wheel itself
