Whats up Taco Heads?! I know I’ve read somewhere about mounting a 33” spare tire in the factory mount with some small fab work.

Has anyone dealt with this or have any info?

Mine has level kit, 34" tires, wife's truck is all stock
I have 285/75/16 duratrac tire and it DOES NOT sit to my liking with the drivers side resting tight against the spring hanger and it sits right tight to the hitch tube in order to clear the diff. I just dont like how it contacts surfaces. I left it clamped up for a couple hours and removed it to see the indentations it was making and just not satisfied with it.

You have a 3rd Gen though and we are referencing 2nd Gens. I'm not sure if the spare tire area is the same with dimensions and so forth between the two models.

Interesting that y’all didn’t have any problems.

I had to remove the spare tire tabs off mine for it to fit, and now it hits the rear diff when flexing.

OP, don’t cut the tabs off. Only bend if needed.

I had to move the spare tire hanger back about an inch to clear the diff. Otherwise it fit fine (255/ 80/ r17 Cooper ST MAX).

Lift? Yea I got one of those
Any mods required to fit the 305s? I hacked off the tabs in anticipation of needing to do it any case.

i didnt mod anything, but it sits against the tabs a bit. they could probably use a couple whacks with a hammer

I have a 285 75 16 (new) and it fits fine. I moved the hoist 1” to the rear just to make sure when raised it is as far the the rear as possible without have to hold it back and crank at the same time. There’s a large hole that would limit drilling and bolting it inplace so I made 2 aluminum plates to sandwich the existing mount. Sorry a little confusing to describe. No pictures on phone anymore but can find one if it helps. I know I’ve posted on this subject before and I had attached photos.

What if I have the All Pro rear bumper with hitch? Can I still fit a 33" I was thinking about airing it down since I have an inflator...maybe that'll help.

I've read the AP hitch interferes with your spare tire.

For anyone with the stock hitch putting a 33 in there... DO NOT cut off the tabs. Also be careful not to bend them too far. The tabs are what keep the tire from getting wedged above the rear diff when you flex the suspension. The tabs are easy to bend, but difficult to bend back once bent too far. My 33.5" 255/85/16 fits fine in there.
