    Hey guys,

I've looked around and done some research and it looks like I will be in the clear. Will 285/75/16 BFG KO2's fit on 2002 ext cab with 2.5" lift up front and a 2" aal in rear?

    Thanks in advance!

You'll have to bash the pinch weld up front and trim the plastic fender liner. Depending on wheel backspacing you might still rub the frame a bit as well.

In the rear you'll fit, though depending on your leaf spring setup (and there's no way I know of to really tell beforehand), you may find that to get full stuff, you need to move the axle forward 1/2"-3/4".

Thanks for the info guys. So do you think I should stick with a smaller size? My truck is my daily and I don't want to have to tear it apart for new tires

Go with 285's. You won't regret it.

I've got a 2" lift and run 265/75/16 KO2s - it's got a nice balanced look to it, no rub and it's plenty of tire for the level of off-roading I do.

I'd say to go with 265/75R16 if you don't want to do a bunch of work up front. Beyond that, look at 255/85R16 for a bit less work than 285/75R16

i have approx that lift with 285/75/16 ko's on pro comp wheels. I think it really depends on your use with the truck. If you plan on wheeling it etc then youll prob have issues. If its mainly for street with some light offroad use then id go 285. I did the pinch weld mod and some light trimming. I never rub in the rear, never on the frame with the backspacing of the wheels, the only time I rub is if the front wheels are turned going into an incline then it scrapes the plastic in the wheel well for the second of impact. (like if im turning into a driveway that is an incline) it hasnt bothered me enough yet to bother doing some more trimming. Overall, I'm glad I went with 285, 265/75 just slightly taller then OEM and not really that different in imo.

short and sweet- i dont rub at all unless the front wheels are turned almost fully and it has to be on an impact.

Cool, this is comforting to know. The suggestion above of going with 255/85/16 is a good idea but I'm getting BFG KO2's on sale from costco and they don't carry that size. The most hardcore I plan on going in my truck is loaded it up with a canoe and camping gear driving up forest service roads. Toytec recommended adding a 1/2" spacer up front (3" total lift) to turn it from "mild" rubbing to "minor" rubbing haha I might go this route in the spring but would rather just do a full suspension lift all at once. Thanks guys!

I wouldnt do 255/85. its an even taller tire then the 285/75 and its the height of the tire that makes it rub more then the width, as long as you have correctly back spaced wheels.

I have this size on my outgoing tires. I agree, functional and good looking. Previous owner had them way over inflated so the center on the tread was nearly gone though. One thing I try to stick to is that if I have to replace something I will upgrade it; so that is my logic of going with larger tires.

I've ran 265/75/16's on my '04 since buying it new (did a 2.5 " lift all around). Nice look and no rubbing.

My 2001 ex cab is roughly 2.5 up front with the 1.5 add a leaf from Toytec in the rear. Im running 285/75/16 MTs on procomp 16s with 4inch backspacing. I did the pinch weld mod and trimmed the inner plastic and I dont rub there at all or on the frame... even with the heavy wheeling I do. But maybe my truck is some sort of unicorn? (Or I just tell myself that to make myself feel special)

I would suggest the 285s if your just going to be exploring the service roads

I just looked up the backspacing on my wheels and they are 4.5". Seems like I will be cutting it really close. I'm considering wheel spacers but I haven't had great experiences with them in the past

if your using your stock 16" wheels its not gonna work without spacers. i bought the pro comps specifically for the lower backspacing to run 285s. they are the pro comp 7069 with 4" backspace.

They're not the stock wheels but they have stock backspacing according to their website (wheels are actually in storage at the moment). I don't have the cash to do wheels and tires at once so I'm thinking spacers are the short term answer. If I go with 1.5" over 1.25" spacers should this give me more room to avoid rubbing?

if your at 4.5 bs i'd just use 1.25in, 1.5 is gonna push them out even further, may look funny. you'll have like a 3in bs, i think the 3.25 with the 1.25 spacer is plenty. plenty people use 1.25 with stock wheels for the 285s

btw i paid $366 shipped for the wheels from summit. if you order the tires from them as well, they will mount and balance for free which saves like $150 plus your spacers are gonna cost about $150. They will price match as well. Not sure what costco gets for the kos. i paid $1212 for the 4 wheel, 4 285 75 kos all mounted and balanced and shipped.

I know this is kind of old but I’m wondering if you have any pictures of this and if you know what your hub to fender measurements are? Im looking into the exact same set up.
