For those who say it's not addicting, I can tell you first hand that it is.

I used to smoke weed, and a decent amount of it too. I have been clean for about 7 months now. Why? I grew up and matured a little bit.

However, not a day goes by that I don't think about it. I constantly have cravings for it. Luckily I have a strong enough will to not fall into my desires. I'd rather live a clean, healthy, long and fulfilling life. There's way better uses of time and way better ways to spend your money.

    Ok I'm back

Conner, you're right about alcohol being part of the European culture as a past time tradition, but Hindus, Hebrews, Muslims and Native Americans all used marijuana. As a past time, medicine, and for religious reasons. So why can't it be legal? Its part of those cultures so why can't it be part of ours? And I could see the side of saying that only those people should be able to smoke it then for those purposes...but can only europeans drink alcohol in the United States?? I think that argument is for weed being legal. European traditions transfered over to America...why can't other people bring their traditions too? When they are less harmful then those already legal.

My friend wrapped his Scion around a light pole while under the influence of marijuana. Only marijuana. Imagine if that light pole had been a child or somebody's mother. It is far from harmless.

that could have just as easily happened with alcohol, which is legal, so whats your point? we are not debating whether marijuana impairs you, we already know it does and it is stupid to drive under the influence of anything.

and as for you saying that it is addicting, i disagree. i have smoked before and experienced it first hand, and its been a while since the last time, and i have no urge whatsoever to smoke. in fact, i feel the urge not to smoke, and i dont plan on smoking anytime soon.

I didn't ask you to agree or disagree with me, I'm saying from my own personal experience and from other people that I know that it is addicting for some people. We all know there are people who smoke themselves senseless.

I never said alcohol or cigarettes are good. All of these substances are [eventually] dentrimental to your health in one way or another, whether you would like to see it or not. Also, I'm well aware of the cannabis culture in Vancouver and the rest of British Columbia. What's your point? Just because the culture is strong doesn't mean I can't go to school there and live in a place that is beautiful and makes me happy? Not everyone in British Columbia smokes pot.

This thread kinda went to shit. At the beginning it was just a good debate, and now its getting ridiculous. Sounds like the people for it just want to start problems and the people against it don't have anything to argue over because its all he said she said. I stated what I felt and stand by it but this back and forth personal bickering over tiny details is dumb.

If there's more things to worry about then why worry about making it legal? :)

I think a benefit of making it legal is not having to worry about it being illegal. all the money spent trying to stop it could be put towards something else (like the fucking budget cuts in CA ). And if the government can get some tax $$$from it to then thats a big plus. Just feels to me that all the hype is overblown.
