^^^ not to be a grammer nerd but those are some beastly run on sentences

I really dont know where to start on this subject but as a victim of the war on drugs and having had personal experience with the positive side effects, including the medical effects as well as the harmful legal effects, i feel it is "high" time that marijuana is legalized.

Unfortunately not all are going to agree, and i respect that. But until you know the true effects of the drug and not just the government propaganda, one really cant make an accurate judgement on its legal status.

Marijuana initially helped me open my mind to way more things and possibilities that i can even begin to explain.

It then put me through hell and back, also known as the legal system of Florida.

I've been arrested as well as seen best friends get arrested because of the plant.

I have even seen our own law enforcement turn suburban kids against each other to bust small time dealers for a 25 dollar bag of shitty weed. This then goes on to have debilitating effects on their futures.

I've even experienced the medical benefits from the drug, case being when i broke my wrist and substituted the drug in place of prescription pain killers (worked just fine!!)

And even though it has cause so much trouble in my life i would never take it back because it has helped me become the individual i am today.

The medical as well as psychological benefits that marijuana can have are endless but only through accurate, unbiased, and thorough testing can their true potential be realized.

Legalize it and end an era of oppression and ignorance!!

I never tried to pass myself off as an expert. I was just trying to give everyone some better information. I added a resource to the bottom of my original post, but your welcome to read my other posts for more resources.

Btw, buddy you want real world experience? I started using drugs at the age of ten, quit when I was eighteen after two felony convictions.

I do work with addicts, but I also drink and smoke cigarettes. And my opinion was unbiased my original post stated that I wasn't taking a stance one way or the other; I was just giving information. Please learn to read.

Funny how some folks are bashing her education as not being the same as their personal experiences. Why do I find that funny? Because anecdotal evidence is the poorest form of evidence (er, at least in medicine). Seriously - you expect the experience of ONE person to make up for the (potentially) HUNDREDS of people that her texts are based off of? And, apparently, she also has personal experience (if we're giving her the benefit of believing that she did indeed start at 10)

Does this mean that these same nay-sayers will take their kids to doctors that didn't go to medical school? Or their car to a mechanic that never took a shop or auto class in high school and became ASE certified? Fly commercial, with a pilot that flew on his home PC only?

So rather than bash her education, respect the fact that she's actually trying to better educate herself, likely get a better job/better salary, and probably knows more than you on her topic. No one pays all that money to get stupider (well, OK, she'll forget lots of crap not in her field, like long division, but that's not really my point here)

Thats an ignorant statement you made dude , it isn't an age biased poll
What have YOU been smoking or drinking ? :brianr: :brianr:

& if thats the best reply you can come up with to someone elses view then you better stay in the corner til you come up with something legit & what makes your opinion on the matter anymore plausible than anyone elses ? Everyone here has a right to voice their view regardless of their stand or age... but hey... its cool bro' I was still pretty ignorant when I was 31 too....

I'm not savy on all the legal processes but isn't there a way to get a law instated that is temporary?
Let's just say legalize marijuana for 5 or 10 years. Have medical tests done by PRIVATE companies AND government agencies during that time to see the +/- effects the plant will have on all aspects of society. After that time frame is over, the issue comes to the ballot once again but now it's time to keep it legal or prohibit it once again. That way EVERYONE should experience one way or another what effects legalizing the plant has on society.

From my PERSONAL experience with smoking weed regulargly for 6 years here are my thoughts. It's not meant to sway anyone to think differently than they already do but just MY experience & thoughts. Right or Wrong.

Marijuana is NOT addictive - I have smoked for about 6 years now and usually pretty regularly and for about 1 year just about daily. I was smoking regularly up to about 2 months ago when I unfortunately stopped. I only stopped because I want to eventually have a career in law enforcement and I know I cannot continue smoking ganja. I set a date and said that will be my last day. I have hung out and sat around with my buddies as they smoke around me and still have not smoked again. I've been offered by them many times to take a puff but I JUST SAY NO:D.
Try that with someone that is addicted to anything. It's not addictive in my personal experience but only habitual. According to the latest news reports, Texting is addictive.

Pain Reliever -When I fell off my quad and dislocated my shoulder and made it back to our camp site my friend offered me the only pain reliever he had - Chronic. I was in SOOO much pain but after 2 bowls, most of the pain went away. FYI- I did not smoke before going out for our ride because you just don't want to be doing that, that's really not smart.

I agree 100000% that it will:
    -Impair one's motor skills
    -Slow one's reaction time
-Short term memory & thinking skills will go down the drain WHILE High.
-Increase the likelihood of Lung & possibly other Cancers IF Smoked. NOT if vaporized.

Aren't those side effects the same ones that you will experience while under the influence of other LEGAL substances? Marijuana's positive side effects by in large outweigh the negatives. It is no worse than alcohol or tobacco. If you don't agree with that last sentence than you better not open your mouth (start typing:p) if you smoke or drink alcohol. If you think those two substances alone should still be legal than you are a hypocrite. I may not need marijuana for medical reasons but there sure fucking is people out there that benefit HEAVILY from the THC effects.

If our government REALLY, genuinely gave a damn about our health, they would have already prohibited tobacco (Not our government because a government does not make decisions, PEOPLE in government do). Why haven't they? Because of tax money & lobbying by BIG MONEY tobacco companies & i'm sure Pharmaceutical companies as well.
    Remember: Money rules our world.
I GUARANTEE that if the drug cartels put on suits, went to their congressmen and gave them vacations & money, Marijuana WOULD BE LEGAL RIGHT NOW. GUARANTEED!

    My 2 pesos
