Yea, I try to be positive it's only stuff and money and I can make more of that. Kids safe, parents safe, brother and his family safe, hell even my cat is safe(see profile pic). Can't ask for much more

Sorry about your losses. I've been pitching out a good bit of my house today. We were lucky enough to grab our critters and evacuate before we couldn't leave. Only got about 4 inches in the house, but it's a mess and you lose a good bit of stuff.

Went to my brothers house in Denham Springs.... Up to the roof of his Silverado..... First floor was swamped.

    Hope you fare well.

Fellow Louisianan here. Praying for you guys, our church is headed that way to mud out some houses and bring supplies this weekend. I work at lake Charles Toyota to your West and I'll help you out with getting another Tacoma if you end up shopping for a replacement. I can sell you a locate at invoice or a 16 off the lot for below invoice.

First, I'm sorry that you and your family fell victim to this. It's terrible that so many are without homes and personal belongings, some of which will be permanently. As far as the truck goes honestly it's probably best if it's totaled considering the water is +2ft since the photo. Even if the engine or rear end didn't suck water a lot of the electrical system probably did. It may start up and drive just fine after the wiring dries out but my concern would be for how long. Electrical components exposed to extended periods of water will most certainly fail in the future from shorts caused by oxidation. Personally I don't know if I'd trust it a year + from now. Not to mention the resale on it would be shit because flood damage would be on car fax. Most importantly I just hope you can recover your home. With luck since it was parked in your car port, home owners will cover it, as well as auto.

Reminds me of when hurricane Sandy rolled through my parts in 2012. The loss throughout the shore was unbelievable, and some areas are still trying to recover and rebuild. Also, I'd say about 90% of the house that had any water on the property had to get raised 9' in the air or insurance would not cover your house.
If I remember correctly, insurance agents were totaling just about anything that saw water. One adjuster once told me they were totaling anything where the water went more than halfway up the tires. The water was disgusting and sitting in salt water for so long seemed to destroy electronics and leave rust everywhere.

Even if the water didn't enter the cab, I wouldn't want it, just based on all of the Sandy vehicles I saw.

    Best of luck!

If water entered the smart key computer it will not start.
It puts it in failsafe mode when it detetects water intrusion.
    Need Techstream to reboot.

Glad to hear you are okay. So sorry for your loss Port Vincent is a very low place in general, much less all this flooding. Stay safe and good luck!

As for me, I was one of the lucky few on Millerville that had no water damage, if the i believe the water got to the slab, but not high enough to enter the apt., but if I hadn't woken up early Sunday morning (6am), I would have lost both my gf's car and my Tacoma. That truck paid for itself this weekend in getting me through flooded areas safely. It did cost me a BSM though...

Everything in the house is ruined, it's gonna be a long road to a normal life again bUT thankfully my parents don't live far and I can stay with them while we rebuild. A few pics of the house, 4 wheeler went under too. Close to 50 guns went under too, some were family heirlooms, thought I put them all high enough but water got higher than predicted20160818_123358.jpg 20160818_115309.jpg 20160818_115413.jpg 20160818_120725.jpg
