Sorry to sound like a broken record but I have a question regarding the Bilstein 5100s. I recently upgraded tires from 265/70/16 to 265/75/16. Contrary to what EVERYONE said, I rub a little on sharps turns. Not much but just enough to irritate me to fix it.

When I ran the 70s the rubbing was so minuscule I wasn't even sure that it was rubbing. It is my understanding that the tires I have on now are about an inch larger than the ones I had previously, so raising the front would seem like a logical solution to my ordeal. I just ordered the 5100 billys for the front and am curious as to whether I should set them at .85 or 1.75. I plan on keeping the back stock for now. I would set them at .85 if I had the stock bumper, but I have a trail-gear tube bumper that is heavy as balls. I'm assuming with this weight up front I could get away with setting it at 1.75? What do you all think?

I have that same size of tires on my 98, to stop the rubbing I have the billies set at 1.75, a 1" body lift and a pair of 3/4" spacers on the front so that the tires don't rub the frame. I also had to lose the stock mudflaps on the front.

Drop bracket lift and booger welds
They are rubbin the frame, not the firewall. Lifting won't help you at all. You need proper back spaced wheels or wheel spacers.

1st gen 5100's have 0", 1.250", 2.5" settings. I have the same setup on the first notch for 1.25" lift with 4.5BS/0 offset wheels and no rubbing. I had the same size tire with factory wheels and no rubbing either.

Running a factory Toyota wheel but looks to be off a 4 runner maybe. Are the wheel specs different than a Taco?

Those look like 2nd gen wheels. 16s? Probably ~5.5" of backspacing. About an 1" more that stock 1st gen wheels. Puts the wheel closer to the frame.

This. You are running 5.5" backspaced wheels. You need at least 4.5" or less. I ran 265/75R16's in stock height and never had rubbing issues with 4.25" backspaced Ultra Typ 164 wheels before my suspension lift.

I apologize I forgot to mention I also installed the 1.25" Spidertrax Spacers as well. So even with the inch more of back spacing, that should be corrected by the spacers. Maybe trading the spacers in for 2" might work? Irritates me as I've talked to a guy with the same setup as me WITHOUT the spacers, and he has no rubbing.

Yes they are 2nd gen wheels.

Are you sure you are running 265/75? Judging by your picture they look very tall and wide more like 285's???

So you installed the Bilstein's in the middle setting? At 1.25" lift with stock springs? Or are you still at stock height and rubbing with 265/75's and wonder where to set the 5100's to stop the rubbing?

No I'm waiting on the billys. Should be in Monday. I'm going to set at the middle setting and hope it helps a little. I don't see why a lift wouldn't correct the problem? The backspacing issue is corrected with the spacers, the tire is rubbing the frame because it's a taller (therefor longer) tire that is reaching up and slapping the frame a little.

Yeah install them in the middle and cycle your suspension then let us know. I ran stock wheels and aftermarket wheels with .25" less back spacing on 265/75R16's and never rubbed or hit the frame.

Awesome. I'll post back in here in a couple days. Maybe this thread will help someone else who has a chance to nab some nice 2nd gen wheels and wants to run with them.
