Looking for a spot to steal keyed power from. I found this sort of spade connector next to the cabin airfilter. Need power for 2-way radio. Can i use it? See attached picture. Thanks.

It looks like an unused relay location. If no one here knows where it get's it's power from, figure it out yourself. 1 of the terminals should be constant power, 1 key switched trigger power, 1 ground and 1 going to whatever location is not used in your truck. Put your test light in the constant power terminal and start pulling fuses. When the light goes out, see what fuse it is, and if you want to add a load to that circuit. If everything seems cool, snip off the wire that is the other switch contact and run it to your radio. Then just pop in an OEM relay. This is all just making assumptions based on the arrangement of the terminals. If you burn down your truck, it's on you.

Why not run it to a key-on power source in the fuse box? You can get cheap multimeters at HD and Lowe's for under $15.

Ya would like to do that but, how do i go about tearing apart the fuse block to get to the back side where the wires are? Unless i’m missing something?

Use a product called Add-a-Fuse. It plugs into an existing fuse location and gives you a second fuse (for what you're adding) plus a hot lead for it. No hacking into existing wires required.

How much current does that 2 way radio draw when you key the mic? I'm guessing you want nice clean power. I'm thinking that relayed, isolated power, would be best.

If the radio power is low enough during transmit/receive, use an add-a-fuse, or fuse-tap on the rear-PowerWindow fuse. Lots of ample power for each motor, and it only operates when the key is ON.

Well, it looks like you're going to have to research that, right?

30 amps seems a little high to me - you'll likely need to provide a power supply from the battery.

Well i went to town and found a brass deal that slides in with fuses and leaves you a male spade terminal to connect to. Its not made for micro 2 fuses, its made for regular mini fuses. So a little grinding and trimming i shoved her in. (Never been a fan of two males in one female!) so far its all working good! Thanks for all your advice, and yes i tapped into supply side of rr pw.

Did you make sure to tap into the non hot side of the fuse?

^^^ Very important unless you have added an in-line fuse just down the line.

I did tap the hot side, with an in line fuse inches away. Radio dealer sent one with a 15 amp fuse. That right there from Amazon is exactly what i am going ro order.

    Lotsa shit.
I used an add a fuse for my CB for the last 2 years, works awesome, clean and quick power every time. Not sure what fuse I put it in with, but it was a keyed-power spot, part of me thinks it was for the A/C? Either way, that'd be your best/ easiest bet for sure.
