My OEM shift knob that came standard on the truck never came lose. I recently replaced it with the TOYOTA PTR57-34141 TRD Shift Knob (which looks awesome by the way) and that was failing to tighten in the correct position. Once I added the plumbers tape the new knob tighter up about a full rotation earlier and isn’t loose at all.

So you think i should put plumbers tape on my threads to get it to be tight?

It worked great for my needs to solve for the loose TRD shift knob, I don’t see why it wouldn’t work to solve for the factory knob.

The worse case if it doesn’t you simply remove the tape from the threads.
