What this will become is if you tinkered with some codes and your engine dies, or brakes fail, it is not on the manufacturer. Also if I steal your car and then recode components to clone or reassign them,...wire fraud, felony, etc, etc.

Yes, it's a reference to ABS, and also to Traction Control/Stability Control. Both of them control braking levels at individual wheels, and since they're modern systems they're run by computer code.

    Shrug.
"Just Fine" isn't necessarily the same as "Good"
There's a lot of conditions where ABS (when done correctly) is considerably more effective than non-ABS systems. ABS can modulate braking force on individual wheels to prevent a lockup-induced skid, whereas without ABS the operator would have to let up on the brake and decrease braking force to all of the wheels (which increases stopping distance) to avoid locking up a wheel. This is especially handy when braking in a sharp curve, since weight shifts as you progress through the corner.

Edit- There's times where ABS is less effective than non-ABS braking, but they're limited. And since the majority of the time ABS is much more effective, it's turned on for the majority of the time.

A few audio upgrades, tinted windows, remote start because it f'n hot in Texas! 6in Fabtech DB lift, 17x9 Fuel Trophy wheels, 315/70/17 Duratracs,BAMF 80in sliders w/kickout, Prinsu cab rack w/30in Heretic light bar, custom bedside decals, custom hi-lift jack brackets, US Offroad front bumper w/winch, bed rack with RTT, CB, Short wave base station, Ultra gauge, color matched grille surround, an ungodly amount of recover gear, ARB fridge, hood struts, RotoPax, traction pads.
This bill will also look into technologies such as lane departure warnings, blind spot warnings, assisted steer and breaking, radar controlled cruise control and many others out there. Regulations have been put into place for the auto manufacturers to meet certain guidelines by a predetermined date. These technologies will allow the auto industry to meet those requirements ei, safety, emissions, mpgs ect. If the bill passes, it looks like anything altered on the vehicle that could affect the factory performance of any of these systems could be found as "tampering" and will be dealt with accordingly. The closer we come to the autonomous vehicle the more this bill will affect the consumer.

    Thanks. :oldglory:

I am fine with electronically assisted features as long as there is ALWAYS a manual backup, such as the braking system. If that thing fails, I don't want my brakes gone.

Own a horse. It used to be back in the day everyone owned one and people wouldnt bat an eye at that but would oo and ah a car when they saw one. Now in this day and age you'll get more oo's and ah's if you rode on a horse instead of a car.

Some flags and center console divider... lots of things on the wanted list.
Sad thing is even Deere tractors is getting in on this saying farmers don't own their own equipment because of the electronics. They can't fix them because they can't get anyone to come diagnose the problem without paying thousands extra.

Deere says they own the codes in the tractors, and nobody else can touch them or modify it otherwise they'll sue. With them doing this, they are actually losing money on sales. Many farmers are looking for and buying old equipment they know they can fix quickly.
