If you offroad a lot. Overgeared will be better. I run 5.29s with 35s and its a freaking hoot. Added a blower after that and its freaking fast. Large part of that is the torque from the gearing though. Higher rpms yes but toyota motors love that shit. And lifes too short to GAF about gas mileage haha

I actually get decent mileage on 35's and 5.29's. Like close to 15 most days. It's been a while since I calculated. My dented gas tank throws my needle off so I can only go like 230 per fill I think because I'm not fully at what the tanks capacity used to be.

Haha gas mileage really isn't a concern for me! Just worried about affecting engine longevity with the higher RPMs and/or boost

again. Not likely a problem. Not saying its not possible. But the toyota motors of our age were so over built they take the abuse amazingly well. I wouldn't sweat that at all.

I am wondering the same on my 1st gen, running 650s on an ext cab 4 cyl isnt exactly working them enough.

Been pondering if a revalve would suffice

What do you mean by not working them enough?

To stiff, thought the bumper and winch would weigh them down. Every bump feels like a speed bump type deal

They did send them to me with 600s and i had asked for 650s, sent them back and king changed the coils instead of the company I ordered from

    Finally making some small changes.

I converted over to the shorter 2.4L radiator a few months ago in preparation for a bumper build. The shorter radiator eliminated the need for a wonky hump in the skid plate.

Are you going to retain the upper portion of the stock bumper or are you just using it as a sort of template?
And what it supporting it with the frame mounts removed?

Looks like a cool idea so far

yes, i will be retaining the factory plastic that's left in the pictures. The factory bumper has a stamped steel backing plate that attaches with two bolts to either side of the frame. We left this system intact, so it is still mounted exactly like it was when stock. We will also be adding tabs to the back side on the ends, and using rubber fender washers to keep the end from flopping. Something like the below:

I like where this is going..

I don't really love the LED bar part. Sticks out too far. Would have been cooler if you fit it right between the two chrome sections and kept the approach angle down. To me anyways.

gotta have the nerf bar for maximum bro-points.

we talked about how far it sticks out. I'm waiting to see what it looks like with the ends capped etc. maybe i'll ditch it, maybe we'll keep it. I didn't want to cut up the remnants of the factory plastic only to change my mind and have to buy another one.

I love the main bar radius work, and i like where the skid plate angles are going to land. The rest of it can be cut and changed down the road.

he had to roll the middle, then roll/bend at increasing angles as it got towards the ends, it's not a constant curve. took him most of a day to get it perfect, but that's why he's the one building this for me.

Why I never did it myself

Yeah man the more I look at the cooler it would be to stick the LED bar In the bumper. Just trim the plastic to let the lens show not the top though. Your outside reflectors would get cut off about 50% but man would be sweet.

or just mount it so the face of the bar meets the face of the bumper? But the curves don't match perfect, so it'd look a smidge goofy. I have 2 S2 Pro's I'm considering mounting underneath as fog lights, but i may gift them to jeep buddies that need adequate dust lights...

Kind of what Im saying just that the mounts for the bar would be under the stock bumper so the LED would be between the two chrome pieces and the element of the LEDs would probably be flush with the stock bumper yes.

Im about to get some S2s for ditch lights for the daily. They work nice? You think the Pros over the Sports are worth the extra cost?

I haven't seen the Pro's next to the Sports so i can't speak to the difference. When i bought mine the Sports didn't exist. I originally ran them on the sides of my rack near the headache loop, and they worked great, but i found that i rarely used them, so i pulled them off. I might use ditch lights, but i'd probably be annoyed by light reflecting off the hood.

Mine don't bounce off the hood on Igor. Depends on where you point them. So long as you use them as real ditch lights point a bit outwards its all good.

Fair enough! I can't decide. Just need them for deer spotting.
