Can y’all direct me to your favorite local news stations in the Wilmington area or just Brunswick County?

Family beach house is Ocean Isle and we don’t get anything down here in SC about that area?

Or at least keep me updated if you hear anything about that particular town?

My fiance and I are in Greenville, SC, evac'd last night.

I can give a run down of what I know working with the storm water division for C.O.W.

As of 5pm yesterday the city, administratively, is shut down. The cities EOC will be set up today. However, it will only be manned by two people during the landfall to be able to track city issues so they can start dispatching crews as soon as it is feasible to get them to the op center and then in the trucks to head out.
Duke energy put out an announcement yesterday morning that they are expecting 3-4 weeks, earliest, to get all citizens power. They will be starting with 'the essentials'. The hospital first, then the water treatment plants to get water pumping out of the city, then other important areas. The city will not be opening the shelters as they are only rated for cat 3 storms and this will be a cat 4.
I just received a call from our EOC starting that with this recent trajectory shift, we will be in the northwest quadrant which means more intense wind 150mph. There are predicting severe and intense flooding. More than previously predicted. Everyone be safe who is staying. I will attempt to update as I know more.

We evacuated to Greensboro yesterday. I hope be heading back down Sunday evening if at all possible, so I can assess house and property damage. If anyone needs anything brought back down let me know. I'll do all I can to help.

I've seen so many different maps, predictions, and info why don't meteorologists just admit and tell the truth and say "f" it we have no clue what's going to happen or where the storm is going to go just be prepared.

Also getting pretty sick of new using descriptors like perilous, deadly, 100 yr flooding, etc. This creates panic in people. They should really inform and help prepare instead of inciting panic mode.

    Rant over.

Disagree completely. While I know they are using that language to get more website clicks, etc. People don’t go anywhere unless if the fucking fear of god is put in them. You know how many people I and thousands of others rescued from the gulf towns of Texas after Harvey? All because they thought they could “ride this piddly Cat 4 hurricanes” out with no issue

Also, this actually COULD be a 100 year storm, flood, or hurricane. So much is atypical and unpredictable. So I’d MUCH rather them report it being a full on zombie apocalypse style storm than downplay it or say “we don’t know”

You are right people don't move without being hit with a cattle prong so it does help to get them moving. I agree with that my issue is the style of reporting which creates a panic mode and can be worse than a more organized way of dealing with these things. The reason a say that is even here people are freaking the hell out and not being smart or focused they are just going bonkers running around like a chicken with their head cut off that doesnt help matters. Like the retarded panic buying at the grocery stores is a prime example.

I took a leave of absence from work and went down to LA after Katrina and have stuff ready to go in case I need to head down and assist after this one. I know what you mean with that.

I'll leave my opinions on the 100 yr thing to myself.

20-25mph sustained winds here with intermittent rain but that’s about it.

Hope everyone is ok after the storm, did anyone stay and ride it out? We evacuated to Chattanooga and all safe, but trying to see how much damage/flooding occurred on Gordon Rd (Ellington Farms / Coastal Mini Storage).

I’m off Gordon too and haven’t been able to make it back to town. I rode the storm out in Snow Hill

Luckily we made it through pretty good. No damage to the house. We lost a couple fence panels and a bunch of tree limbs. Hope you guys are doing good and have very little damage.

I lost some trees and my trampoline. Don’t know how the inside did with a potentially leaking roof. Time will tell.

Hey all! I live just north of Snows Cut. We evacuated to Atlanta and judging by the all the reports of flooding on 40, 17, 74, 421, etc...we appear to be stuck out here for awhile. Neighbors shared some pics of my house and it seems to have held up well, from the outside.

Sure doesn't seem like the rain is still going to stop any time soon...really sad.
