Wimpy OEM battey

Im dissapointed that Toyota went with such a wimpy low CCA and reserve capacity size 24f battery on the tacomas. I have trd-or with tow.

It starts up fine but with all those electronics and heated seats I thinking about picking up a nice 27f battery like the 2nd gens come with. There is plenty of room on the battery bay for a much larger battery.

 

.. so go get a 27F.

With a smaller engine, I would imagine not as much CCA is required for starting the engine.

Also of note is the 05-08 2nd gen V6s had a 24F as standard, with the 27F reserved for tow packages. 09-15 all came with a 27F.

 

Yet another reason 2013 was the pinnacle year.

 

Did the 2nd gen come with the 160 amp alternator with the tow package? Maybe with the large alternator they feel it makes up the slack of a smaller battery.

 

If the new battery is cheaper and works fine as engineered then I am okay with it.

 

Plus weight savings for additional mpg.

 

negligible weight difference for MPG...

 

Although the new battery is smaller, it has more horsepower. Mind blown.

 

hey guys JW is there ways to upgrade the 2nd gen alternator? I've heard they are pretty weak
